Dora the Fecking Explorer- a support thread

WelshBoris · 10/02/2007 22:42

Following on from the Thomas the Tank thread, are there any desperate mothers out there sick to the back teeth of Dora the Explorer?

My DD {2} is OBSESSED. You name it, we've got it in Dora.

She will watch it all day every day if I'd let her.

And when I want her to do something, that she doesn't want to do, she puts her hand out and shouts at me "SWIPER NO SWIPER"

Please, share my pain,

Boris

lol, as soon as the opening theme starts up dd3 gets all excited and yells' dor DOR COMING DOR DOR'

i have just ordered her some dora welly boots for her birthday and some new dora pj's. she is also getting the mag/dvd 1st issue (but that will be sent monthly and its really to give me some peace at harefield post-transplant whenever that finally happens).

dh has set up the sky+ to record it each day, so if i need 20mins break in the kictehn (dd3 is a limpet child) theni know i can leave her watching ans WILL NOT move.

the older two are into lazy town, i am really not sure which one drives me more mad atm.

I've set up a direct debit to pay for the magazine, maybe it wont be so painful paying £6 a fortnight for a magazine then.

She cant read and I'm spending £6 a fortnight on a magazine for her.

DD had her wellies on today in the snow. And her raincoat with the backpack attached.

And the umbrella.
No wonder I've never got any money

dd3 carries a figure from the bus most days, i stepped on the boy superbaby earlier [owwwww]

Aww I miss dora - my dd has gone off her in favour of the funky cousin diego (cos she's animal mad and he's an animal rescuer). It did used to do my head in though - you've reminded me what i'm missing teehee.

The aquadraw mini-mats are good.

She has the trampoline, tent and tunnel. Game for the my first leappad, countless books and dvds, clothes, shoes, underwear, the castle, the animal house with Diego.

I'm sure theres more.

There is a bag they sell in Toys R Us with colouring sets, paper, pencils, stickers, mini magnets and a few other bits and bobs. All Dora and only about £2. Bargain.

dd has the wellies and pjs (5 quid from tesco) which are fine, but the dvds drive me mad. If I hear one more repeat of 'we did it' and see any more tall mountains....!!
dd has never asked why she doesn't have to cross a troll bridge and turtle river to get to our library!
we don't have any of the toys but dd's best mate has the bus and castle, which she plays with when we go round there.
dd has just discovered lazy town as well, think maybe I prefer dora!!

dd is 17mo and can say dora and "ba-pa"

She loves dora, and squeals if she sees anything with dora on in shops.

Sorry boris, but me and dh just posl at your dd's strategy for not doing anything she doesnt like! Very cute

My dd (almost 3) doesnt only love Dora - she really thinks she is Dora. While on a walk the other night she stops suddenly and says 'look out mom theres a beanstalk behind you!' - referring to a tree of course!! Further along she stops again to admire another tree - 'wow look at that tree - I've never seen a tree like that before'
Another favourite 'oh you sneaky fox' did also go through a phase of 'swiper no swiping' when not wanting to do something. And often she refuses to answer to her name and insists that she is Dora and I am infact Boots. Magazines are often referred to as maps and we always need to check them to see which way to go.

Yes I am probably partly to blame by buying everything Dora - undies, birthday cake last year, party accessories, bedset, figures, Vtech game, magnets, stickers, colouring books, backpacks, bninoculars, camera, watch - you name it we have it Dora style!!

Big Diego fan too!!

I saw it for the first time the other day and I was shocked - it's bloody dreadful! I'd heard about it and imagined some lovely feminist postman-pat-style thingy with witty jokes and stop-motion animation. Instead it had me tearing my hair out after about 4 seconds - it's so cheap, dull and crass. From now on it's censored so DS can't get a taste for it...

I know it's good for her Cod, her Spanish is remarkable for a child of it's just annoying.

And so purple why does it all have to be purple?

this thread is hilarious

dd2 (22 months) is totally obsessed, she can spot a dora thing in shops a mile away

she dances away and squeals when it's on, shouts 'swiper mo siping', 'bap pa' and 'mak mak mak'

lol so sweet and it hasn't got really annoying YET but theres plenty of time

ILoveBeingWelshBoris · 11/02/2007 20:23

If I had to choose, then Swiper would be my favourite.

Or maybe Isa.

Or at a push Benny.

Maybe I should stop watching it when DD is in bed.
