Toddler with Distal Arthgryposis

Dear all,

Our little one is almost 18 months and has been going to nursery for a while

The question I have is.. Does anyone else have any experience of the extra needs for a child with Distal Arthgryposis?

We've noticed that her development isn't too bad but she does have problems flexing her left wrist.. Sometimes she will do it but she seems to find it more comfortable to flex her fingers which make her holding bottles for example a bit hit and miss

She is walking but does see to spend a lot of her time walking backwards. Is this normal?

Otherwise she seems to be developing mentally quite well, apart from an obsession with Peppa Pig

Sorry - nothing to add but have just read your previous thread and didn't want to read and run. Your daughter is gorgeous. I'm so happy that she's doing so well.

Thanks everyone.. Will ask the question there.. She seems to throw things without any trouble at all.. I wonder if she just finds some positions more comfortable than others.. I know she can flex her wrists as she does it when she wants to crawl or bang on the patio windows...

We've just been to see the specialist.. There's nothing to be worried about and she's really happy with her progress..No more appointments to see her for a year.. Just the trips to the physio to check that the talipes doesn't come back and to change her shoes... She went from 95% needing major surgical intervention in her first 5 months to just being observed to make sure she progress well.. She is a real fighter our little cookie!
