Hi, we are not sure which to choose for our baby girl. Any preference?

Claudia's nice. It also suits grown ups as well as babies, unlike a lot of people's names, so I think it's a good choice. I think Pascale is OK if you are actually French, otherwise it's pretentious.

I have a Claudia and have had nothing but positive feedback about it. She is an absolute peach, mind you It's not that common either. It gets shortened to Claudi quite a lot. Not sure how you would shorten Pascale if you wanted to.

i LOVE claudia

not too fussed on pascale although i did have a baby doll when i was about 7 or 8 that i named Fleur Pascale

in my accent it would be really pretentious or chav depending on who hears it too think how it would sound if cilla black were to say it

Claudia

I didn't realise there was a feminine version of Pascal - only know it as a boy's name. How is Pascale pronounced?

Claudia is quite rare, but pretty in French.

Pascale is horribly dated.

same as the boy. we just can't agree on names, it's so difficult

The meaning of Claudia would put me off (lame, disabled)...

Claudia, a friend at school was Claudette

I agree about the negative meaning of Claudia. And even if you don't care, your dd may.

Pascale is quite nice, actually. I used to have a French exchange friend called this. Not sure how common it is these days in France.

oh god I didn't realise/had forgotten the meaning of the name claudia. We were also thinking of nina, and I liked Darcey or Saskia, but he says the first she would get teased in a french playground, the second is a dog's name in france. Anyone know. Thanks for the name list. We thought about Genevieve but her sister is Giselle which is a little close. Clementine - will she be teased for being an orange?

As her daddy is actually French, Pascale is lovely and not at all pretentious.

I love Clementine - was on my long list but it has been vetoed due to the orange point.

I don't think Genevieve and Giselle are too close. Genevieve is my favourite; it's lovely, especially as she's half French.

I didn't know that Claudia meant that. It's so pretty.

There are millions of pretty French names... Sabine, Delphine, Jean, Manon...
