I really like this name, and the nns Vicky or Tor. But when I mentioned it to my sister in law she made a face and said I had to be joking. What do other people think?

I like it. A tiny bit formal for me but a good strong name.

Tis my name - I love it, but I kind of needed to grow into it.

BTW I was a Vicki as a teen, but now am mostly Vik.

janeite · 25/05/2010 17:11

It is a great name but it has to be growled like this

Not fond of Tor though.

Like Victoria but don't like Vic/Toria/Tor/Vicky/Vikki/Vicci etc...it's inevitable though!

I like it and think it could be due a comeback.

I'm one and hate all the abbreviations. Vic in particular sounds like someone retching. Never managed to persuade anyone to call me Tori.

Vita is a nice nn (as in Vita Sackville-West). And there's a good song by The Kinks, too.

janeite · 25/05/2010 18:48

Ooh yes to Vita. And The Fall's cover (below) is much better than the original!

Like Victoria but don't like it shortened

Report
pointydog · 25/05/2010 21:59

not keen. Don't like Vicky.

SarfEasticated · 25/05/2010 22:52

I like it shortened to Plum and it's is a good solid name.

Report
SarfEasticated · 25/05/2010 22:53

Not 'shortened' to Plum obviously!

My name too! And I love it. I've been Vicky/Vix for years but would love to be Victoria again. And, yes, my mother always told me I was named after a plum because I was fat and purple when I was born.

good

not keen on Tor but that's just because I speak German where it means "gate" and so sounds daft to my ears

I like it. I considered it for DD2 but was put off by other people (wrongly) who all seemed to hate it.
Not sure why as Victoria is IMO a very pretty name...not keen on Vicky/Vix etc though.
