We're still short of boys names. DS is called Freddie and I thought Eric might be quite nice. Middle name will be Arthur.

Does it tick the nice, popular but not too popular box?

belgo Mon 16-Nov-09 16:20:07

Nope it doesn't, sorry, I know a one year old Eric and it's odd on a baby.

Eric is a name that we are considering as well. When DH first suggested it, I wasn't sure but it is growing on me, so I will be interested to see the response this thread gets.

wouldn't get my vote either I'm afraid, could you not use Arthur as the first name? I love it, nn Art

I love it, especially spelt Erik- very viking

MrsVik Mon 16-Nov-09 18:35:52

Nothing wrong with it! Nice name

RnB Mon 16-Nov-09 18:39:34

Was my dads name Ds1's middle name

hattee Mon 16-Nov-09 18:42:46

I like it. I'm not sure it ticks all the boxes for me, but its a nice name. I'm a fan of good, solid, sensible names though. DH isn't unfortunately!

PoppyIsApain Mon 16-Nov-09 18:44:44

My Grandad is called Eric, i think this name is not old fashioned in a cool way, but in a never ever use again way. wink

SugarSkyHigh Mon 16-Nov-09 18:44:59

sorry i just think of Eric Sykes or Eric Morcambe!

halfcut Mon 16-Nov-09 18:45:35

Not good

zanz1bar Mon 16-Nov-09 18:45:47

love it, love it, love it.

Really wanted Eric for Ds but got vetoed.

I see Eric as a tall, goodlooking american surfer dude.
Yo Eric!

EvilTwins Mon 16-Nov-09 18:46:06

The Prince in The Little Mermaid is called Eric.

hatwoman Mon 16-Nov-09 18:50:02

love it.but not wholly convinced by Eric Arthur. they run together too much, (almost like MacArthur...McCarthy...I think. but both are good names.

BonjourIvresse Mon 16-Nov-09 18:53:28

I think its quite cool, but would go for a really middle of the road middle name so that if he really hated it he could use his middle name.

YerMa Mon 16-Nov-09 19:03:54

Quite like it. Goes well with Ernie Freddie. grin Houston we have a problem - Freddie is too similar to Ernie, but if you don't mind, go for it grin

muggglewump Mon 16-Nov-09 19:18:21

Is Bananaman.

Sorry, no.

wasabipeanut Mon 16-Nov-09 20:35:52

Hmmm. Back to the drawing board.

We did talk about Arthur as the first name but it seemed a bit too old fashioned.

Bugger, why are there so few, nice boys names?

dizzydixies Mon 16-Nov-09 20:46:04

wasabipeanut - you can have some of mine I had 3 DDs so never got to use any?!?!

what about

hector
Stanley
Roan
Gilbert nn Bertie
Gabriel
Will
Bryn
Seth

wasabipeanut Mon 16-Nov-09 20:51:19

I like a lot of those Dizzy but DH has already vetoed Stanley and Gabriel.

However, Gilbert I like a great deal. Will is also on the list but a friend has just called their DS Will so felt a bit bad pinching it.

zanz1bar Mon 16-Nov-09 20:52:59

wasabi don't give in , please call Ds Eric.
I still regret giving in to DH.

midnightexpress Mon 16-Nov-09 20:57:32

I kinda like it. Maaaany moons ago I used to babysit for an Eric and his sister Hilda (their mum was Swedish) so it makes me think of vikings. Nice strong name. I like.

wasabipeanut Mon 16-Nov-09 20:57:57

Sadly Zanz1bar DH is also less than convinced on Eric - I was just testing the water.

I don't even know if it DS but we are woefully short on boy names.
