How will Elliot be shortened?

DH and I really like the name Elliot should our sproglet turn out to be a boy, but think this might get shortened to Elli (which sounds like girl's name Ellie) once he is at school etc.

Does anyone know any Elliots and if so, what are they shortened to, if anything?

I know three, none of whom are shortened. Two are known by abbreviations of their surname though (men, eh? )

This is all very encouraging!

I like El for short.

I have an Elliott, his mates call him Elz, which quite suits him he is 19 now, and yes I got the name from ET too.

The only Elliots I have ever known have not had their names shortened.

El for the only one I've known.

This baby is going to have Elliot as either his first or second name, so I approve of your choice!

My DS is called Elliot. My sister calls him Ellski and I call him Elliotio.

He is only 15 months though so who knows what will happen at school

The one Elliot I know has always been called ET. I think I am showing my age though and it's unlikely to be a problem now!

This man plays a character called Elliot in Law and Order SVU

and he's a fine upstanding character! His name rarely gets shortened either.
