Kwame. I really, really would have loved to have used it but dh wasn't keen and it seemed somehow wrong to use it as it's not from either of our heritages. But I love it.

Keane because (unless I am
mistaken in which case I apologise) the others are invented. I realise that all names were invented at some point, but I'm part of the MN reactionary contingent that dislikes made-up names.

Kwame. Thank you, autocorrect.

Kwame. Kadema is also nice but I don't like the other two.

Love Kwame, have known 3 who were all lovely. Think I've met a Kadema as well - are they all Nigerian names OP?

How is Kwame pronounced? Is it Kwam-ay or Kwaym?

Report
RiverTam · 02/09/2016 19:38

Everyone will say Kwame as its the only one they'll have heard of. I have no idea if the others are 'made-up' or not. Are they all for a boy, because to my ears Kadema sounds like a female name.

I'm not actually all that keen on any of them.

How about Kadian? It means 'cheerful and charming'.

Are these boy or girl names

Longislandicetee · 02/09/2016 19:43

In some countries in Africa, Kwame is the name given to a boy born on Saturday.

The others are weird.

Yes, Kwame is a Ghanaian / Ivorian day name for a boy born on Saturday.

I've only heard of Kwame and really like it based on how it sounds and the people that I've met with the name.

I like Kadema.

I like Kwame, Kwasi, Kwabena and Kofi for boys born on the relevant days. The other three (Kwaku, Kwadwo and Yaw) aren't so great to English ears so if you had a baby on those days maybe look elsewhere for ideas Grin
