Baby names

Tilly, Luna or Alice?

I have four children and am expecting my fifth! I am currently very pregnant and need help choosing between three names, Tilly, Luna and Alice.
We don't know the gender of baby but would love some help in choosing a name. Will give background on older siblings names.

Nancy Violet- Nancy is classy, sassy, full of grace and honors my Grandma Ann. Violet is pretty and delicate and grounds Nancy.
Archie Peyton- Archie is retro and means 'truly brave' which shows what a man should be. Peyton is for Peyton Manning as my husband is half-American and follows American football and adores Peyton Manning as does his Dad (who cried upon hearing his name was Archie Peyton).
Clara Josephine- Clara is sassy and full of spunk whilst feeling suitably adult. Josephine is for my dad, Joseph who calls her his little Clara-Jo. I liked the amount of dignified grace it brings to my rough'n'tumble Clara.
Fox Aiden- Fox is simple and sleek but brings a hint of the wild to my boy. I saw foxes EVERYWHERE in that pregnancy and when we couldn't bring ourselves to name him Freddie Jacob, my husband suggested Fox in a last-minute suggestion. Aiden is my husband's name.

So, help us choose a first name, please! I need help.

Lo x

I'm not keen on Tilly or Luna, but Alice is lovely. I love all the thought you have put into your children's names.

I think Alice seems to fit your style of names best and is my favourite of the three.

I'm not keen on Tilly.

Alice. Fits nicely.

I don't like Tilly much, and Luna is faddy compared to your other names (and reminds me of lunatic).

I like Tilly but agree that Alice fits in better with the other names.

Compared to your other names Tilly is a bit daft.
I think Luna is beautiful, but I can't get past the tick part.
I don't think Alice is the nicest of names but it's certainly not problematic eg no teasing potentials. Just a nice normal name. So id go for Alice.
Oh and BTW. Where I'm from spunk is seamen "cum". I wouldn't use that word to describe a name. Grin

My problem with Alice is that Archie and Alice would then have the same initial which puts me off quite a bit surprisingly.

Alice from me. I tutored a Tilly who was thick as mince many years ago and still associate the name with her. It's a girl's - rather than adult woman's - name imo.

Well my cats name is Luna so I can't imagine it on a child but it is cute. Tilly also sounds a bit like a cat name to me so I'd go with Alice Smile Yes full of spunk means something very different round here op although I got what you meant Grin

I really wanted a Luna (husband vetoed it) and ended up with a Tilly (Matilda). I don't like Alice. Love the descriptions of your children.

I think Alice is lovely, very classy and timeless. Tilly is cute, but only as a nickname imho. I really don't like Luna, sorry... Smile Alice Rose would be nice.

Alice. Or Matilda nn Tilly.

Matilda Luna

Alice is lovely - but then I'm biased as DD2 is an Alice.

Are you for real? All that classy, sassy winsomeness about hints of the wild and spunk makes you sound like a ten year old picking names for her dolls, to be honest. Assuming you are in fact real, and an actual pregnant adult who is mystifyingly unbothered about naming all her very identifiable children on an internet site, Alice by a country mile. Tilly sounds wobbly, and Luna sounds fey.

Hmm, I get what you mean about the Archie/Alice combo. Out of your 3 names, I don't like Tilly, much prefer full version of Matilda. I love Luna but I'm concerned that it'll be a fad name. Alice is probably my fave but I'm not 100% due to the same initial business.

Nancy Violet
Archie Payton
Clara Josephine
Fox Aiden
and ????

What are youre short list of Boys names?

Alice, definitely Alice. Tilly is silly and Luna really shouldn't be a name.

In order of preference I would say:

  1. Luna (love this)
  2. Alice (like this a lot)
  3. Tilly (not really my cup of tea and it's quite well used where I live which would put me off a bit).

Not Luna. I knew a Luna and she was tormented over the name. lunatic etc. She used to pretend to be called Lena when she met new people.
