Teddy: Theodore or Edward

DH and i both like Teddy as a nickname for our little one.

We both want it to be a longer name than just Teddy though. One of us prefers Edwards, and the other Theodore.

What do you think?

I have a 10 year Teddy and he's just that. I wanted Teddy on the birth certificate as I don't like Edward or Theodore. I'd probably go Theodore at a push.

Mine is called both Teddy and Ted but thinks of himself as Teddy

I'd think about other nicknames for each name. Sometimes it's unavoidable that other people with use other NNs. My name is Rosanna and I go by Rose but so many people call me Rosie which I don't like.

My DS is Edward, yet to be shortened. I really liked Teddy as a nickname when i was pregnant, but i've heard it's really popular, which upsets me a bit. I personally haven't met many Teddies, but does anyone know if it really is getting far too popular?

I've got an 8 year old Teddy (he's an Edward) and we've only ever come across one other Teddy in real life.
I vote for Edward. Theodore sounds more American to me

I have an Edward whose name doesn't get shortened (his choice, I'd happily call him Ed or Ted or whatever).

We know two Teddys, one of whom is an Edward and the other is a Theodore. Both nice names, but with Theodore people tend to see his name in full and then automatically assume that he's a Theo rather than a Teddy.
