Mila for me

Isla is more classic and seems quite popular at the moment. Ayla I also like but I prefer Mila the most.

Not another Isla.
The other 2 are okay.

I like all of them. Isla is popular so if you want something more unusual then I would go with one of the other two, but the flip side of that is that Isla is an "established" name so doesn't routinely have to be spelt out/ repeated every time you tell it to someone new - which you would probably find yourself doing with Ayla and Mila.

Iv loved Isla for years since I first heard of actress Isla Fisher but definitely put off that it's so popular but then don't want to have a name no-one can spell or pronounce love Mila but worried it's too foreign or unusual.

Mila is lovely, and I think it's becoming more popular. Not to the extent that Isla is though - so that's a good thing! Because of Mila Kunis, the majority of people would know of the name although you may get some people mispronouncing it as My-la, but you can quickly set them right.

I'd go for the one that you don't need to explain the pronounciation for.

I like Mila but I'd pronounce it Myla.

I prefer Isla. I know of quite a few baby Aylas at the moment so I think it'll date although it's a pretty name.

Really like all of them.

Probably Ayla, Mila, Isla would be my order of preference.

Mila.

Isla is overused and Ayla is just seems a bit...nothing-ish? (Not sure why)

What about:

Mara
Mira
Lina

Ayla will get pronounced both "Ay-la" and "eye-la" so just be aware of that :)
Mila will get pronounced "meela" and "Myla"

I would choose Isla personally, because I can't have a name that can be pronounced different ways weirdo it drives me crazy! :D

And p.s. who cares if Isla is popular? It's still not going to be very common!

Look here: www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/ng-interactive/2015/aug/17/100-most-popular-baby-names-england-wales-full-list

in 2014 the most popular name (Amelia) only had 5300 girls named that in the WHOLE of England, and there were 695,000 live births. so you're not going to be surrounded by Islas really. you might get another one or maaaaybe two in school.

but who cares? Confused

Love Ayla, Mila is ok and I really don't like Isla!

Mila is lovely (I would automatically pronounce it Mee-lah and wouldn't think of any other pronouciations) Very sweet and pretty, but suitable for a child or an adult. It is becoming a bit more of a 'normal' name becuase of Mila Kunis, but I only know one, about 5 years old.

Isla is a bit too popular for me. Every other little girl is Isla at the moment.

I've never watched Game of Thrones, but i've been told thats where Ayla is from? It might be a bit faddish, but it's nice enough anyway. (i would have pronouced it eye-lah)

Isla is very popular where I am (Scotland), but I believe it is now popular in England too. I know a baby Ayla born recently, I find it a bit wishy washy, almost like it is missing something.

Mila is lovely and not over used, I would worry that some people might pronounce it M -eye- la if they only saw it written down, but that wouldn't put me off.

Hi thanks for the reply :) I'm in Scotland too and when I have shown people Mila to read they seem to pronuce it Mil-a which is horrible id rather they thought My-la even thats only thing putting me off tbf tho it's generally older people I would automatically think of Mila kunis or jovovich and pronuce it right. I love it just don't want to give her a lifetime of correcting everyone.I really loved Ayla but most people have said the same it's a bit nothingy. With Isla being popular I didn't think it put me off so much as I don't personally know any and i have likes the name a long time but it really has put me off hearing it all over the supermarket on a few occasions x

I have only heard Ayla pronounced the same as Isla - I believe it is an Arabic name with that pronunciation. Mila will be mispronounced as Miller, I fear.

Of the three, I would go with Isla as it only has one pronunciation.
