Hey MN,

DH, and I, came across the name "Melody" - she can then have the NN of "Mel", but still have a beautiful/slightly quirky name!

Opinions?

I absolutely love it, I don't think I've ever met a melody. It's beautiful!

It's my middle name :) I hated it when I was younger, but I absolutely love it now. I think I've grown into it, I'm quite musical too so it fits :)

I really wish I'd used it as a middle name for my DD.

Lovely, and under used!

It's very pretty, and another with a musical link which a friend used and which I think is lovely is Cadence nn Cadie.

It's sweet but now I have the CBeebies Melody theme tune running through my head.

I love it. (its not my name despite nickname)
If I met a Melody i'd think "what a lovely name."

I've known 3, they don't seem to have any problems with it, although it has never seemed a very strong name to me.

Seems a bit wet to me. And a bit 70s.

I know an Esme Melodie. I think it's beautiful

It's nice, but if you ever have another girl, you would obviously have to call her Harmony Grin

I think its a beautiful name! slightly unusual but still a proper name that's been in use for ever, you wont get any questions of how to spell it or what does it mean. x

It's really lovely but I hate "Mel" as a nickname.

Prissy. Also one of thos names (eg Grace) that implies a certain personality.

Especially dislike the spelling Melodie!

Would also be bad name if she was tone deaf!

The only Melody I knew was a horse. It is rather pretty, but what if the poor child was tone deaf?

Melissa?

I love it, but then DD was very nearly a Melody.

Are you a fan of Captain Scarlet?
Melody, Harmony, Destiny, Symphony & Rhapsody are the extremely cool Angels.

Also Melody Gardot , the jazz singer.

I like it but agree with some of the comments here. Don't like Mel. How about French name Elodie? Beautiful and avoids the musical connotations in case she isn't.

It's a lovely name. I like the suggestion of Melissa too.

Love it.

I really don't understand why it would matter if she turned out tone deaf. It's not like that comes up in conversation anyway.
