Baby names

Lennox, Jarvis or Errol?

Hi all,

I'm finding boys names really tricky - DH and I have very different taste. 3 we have settled on are Lennox, Jarvis and Errol.

I'm leaning towards Jarvis, but I'm not completely sold.

Could you suggest any other names with a similar feel? We will not like anything in the Jayden-school-of-thought, nor do we want a revived grandad name like Alfie.

Middle name will be Ford, and our surname begins with G.

Thanks very much!

I'm not so keen on Lennox, but I think Jarvis and Errol/Erol are cool names. Other similarish names:

Rocco
Jonah

My favourite from your list is Jarvis.

I'm struggling to think of names with a similar 'feel' which don't already appear on Sophronia's list. Maybe Blake, Elliot, Erasmus, Rex, Joel, Aubrey?

I like all of those.

Not helpful, sorry.

LENNOX! Lennox is the second best name EVER. I would love to have used it but it sounds silly with my son's name. Otherwise, it would definitely be my first choice for DC#.

Lennox Lewis is dreamy, Annie Lennox is cool. It's easy to pronounce and spell, it's not wacky but it's not ten-a-penny. It's the perfect name.

Thanks all! Have to admit, I'm liking Jarvis because I love Cocker.

DH just wants to name him Spike. If you ask him, he wants DS to sound cool, 'like a rockstar.' I despair!

My faves suggested from your lists are Quinn, Rocco and Linus. Have also stumbled upon Basil, which I really like. Are the initials BFG a no go?

Also, MamaLazarou, I have to ask - if Lennox is number 2, what is number 1?

My grandfather was called Basil. As children we thought it was a hilarious name, very silly. Not sure how old you are OP, but for many people Basil will be very associated with Basil Fawlty, possibly not the best association. Or Basil Brush (boom boom).

I like Jarvis and Linus.

Go with Spike! It's a great name. I also really like Basil and Jarvis.

I don't like Lennox at all. Errol was a guinea pig wasn't he? Childrens telly, many moons ago. Sure there was an Errol the guinea pig.

I googled. Turns out Errol was the hamster. But you know what, you probably don't need to worry about Roland Rat associations in this day and age.

Lennox from your list. Calling him Spike would be unkind IMO. It's the sort of name a person should acquire not be given by parents trying to be cool. What if your son is not cool?
