A brother for Rufus

So, we have just found out our son Rufus will be getting a baby brother!

Our shortlist so far is....
Barnaby/Barnabas
Felix
Maximilian

The longer list:
Wilfred
Jasper
Gus
Sebastian

Husband has ruled out my favourite, which was Magnus. I also really like Samuel and Henry but I do tend towards less popular names.

Any opinions or any other suggestions gratefully received!

I'd go for Jasper - it feels like it goes really well with Rufus, and kind of "fits in the same category" of name even though I can't quite articulate what that category is. They are both very good names.

I know brothers called Rufus and Caspar. Personally I think Caspar is nicer than Jasper.

Digby was the first name that came to mind.

Not keen on Barnaby/Barnabas or Maximilian. (Afraid Digby also sounds like a dog's name to me)!

Like Felix, Wilfred, Jasper, Gus, Guy, Sebastian, Lucas, Simon, Matthew, Rupert - but maybe too close to Rufus. Maybe Jasper has the advantage over Caspar that it can't be misspelt as you do find Casper too. Same spelling issue (ok spelling bugs me)! with Laurence/Lawrence. Milo's ok but makes me think of that hot chocolate drink!

Felix is a super cool name.

So is Max.

My favourite to go with Rufus is Jasper. They sound fab together. I do like your other choices too- but Max and Seb might be too main stream to pair with Rufus

Jasper, Sebastian, Felix are all great.

One that popped into my head before opening the thread is Alastair or Alasdair.

I also like Jasper best from the list and like Magnus a lot.

Or how about
Quentin
Marcus
Cassius

I love Rufus and Rex, those are my fantasy twin boy names. If not Jasper is a good second best Grin

How about Angus nn Gus?

Thanks for all the suggestions, my list is growing rather than shrinking!

I think we will use a Latin name, Felix is front runner but I love Marcus too.

We considered Rupert last time but it's too similar to use now. I've also ruled out Robin, Rowan and Rex as I had the same initial as my sister and it annoyed me as a child. I do love Robin and Rex though, so maybe I should rethink my irrational issues about initials!
