Baby names

Cecile, Cecily, Tabitha or Tess?

Can I have your votes please? I am a lunatic with a nearly 4 week old baby girl without a name. We just can't seem to make a decision and it's starting to induce panic in me and the relatives. I'm sure this is something that I can blame motherhood for, I never used to be this indecisive.

I like Cecily & Tess, but not the others I had a cat called Tabitha Grin

Those were all on my list! They are all lovely but of course you know that. Do you really not have a gut feeling? I'd almost convinced myself to go with dhs favourite, which I really liked, then he turned up at the hospital on day 2 and said he wanted to go with a different one. The rush of excitement and relief when hesaid it made me realise it was the one I'd really wanted all along.

It wasn't one of yours though or I could be a lot more helpful!

I do have a favourite, tabitha, but dh worries about the cat thing and that doesn't help with my indecisiveness.. His fave is Tess. Perhaps we should go with Cecily for neutral territory. I never thought it would be this hard to pick, we were so sure with ds!

Tess. Brilliantly simple and gorgeous. Like Tabitha too.

I don't like Tabitha (witchy/catty), but I like the other 3. Also how about Cecilia to bring the neutral territory name more towards Tabitha?

Tabitha or Tess

I love Tabitha (cat association doesn't bother me at all) and Tess is lovely too.

Toss a coin?

Decide on a middle name and see which sounds the best with your surname.

Good luck :)

Tabitha!!

It was top of our list if we had a girl (cicily was also on our list)

All very lovely but I think Cecily is the nicest.

Tabitha or Cecile
Cecily and Tess are current middle class trendy, they'll date.
Tabitha isn't catty, it's Biblical, like most of the current popular names.

Cecily or Tee, Cecile is too pretentious and Tabitha is a cat's name :)
Good luck deciding.

Tess not Tee...stupid keyboard!

My cousins DD is called Tabitha - it's a lovely name.
To me it' also a strong name as this girl was a 23 weeker and is now nearly 3 Grin

They all sound like cat names to me. Sorry.

I think I like Cecily best. Is there anything else you can go on- one that goes best with surname or initials... Just trying to think of a way for you to decide, it must be horrible by this point!!

Report
betsybo · 30/06/2013 17:57

It's really horrible. I feel totally incompetent to make the decision now, and it definitely isn't any fun just stressful. Why didn't we decide beforehand?! Hmmmm.....her sibling is Jude so that should be a factor I guess.

None of them, sorry. Agree with them sounding like cats' names Wink

Oh it must be horrible I really do feel for you.

DH and I just went through the baby names book and made a short list of 10 or so and then compared notes, luckily we had both chosen one name the same and that's the one we went with.

Good luck.

Tess would be lovely with Jude. They are both short, neat, slightly unusual but not completely out-there names.

I don't think there's anything cat-like about Tess.

I know siblings called Tess & Luke, which is a similar combination & is also lovely.

As long as you don't mind the Thomas Hardy connection (and there's no reason why you should) I think they would be perfect together.

Please come back & let us know what you decide!

Love Tess (but may be slightly biased as that is DD name) also really like Tabitha, I suggested it for DD but her brothers weren't keen.

Tess and Jude?

People will think you are a rabid Thomas Hardy fans.

Report
IHeartKingThistle · 30/06/2013 21:14

Yep there is the Hardy thing to think of!
