Annabelle or Anna?

DC3 is due in 2 weeks and DH and I still can't decide on a girls name. If its a boy, we're going for Sebastian Thomas. I liked Charlotte but DH doesn't like it. He liked Stella but I wasn't keen. DH really likes Anna Lucille, which I agree is a lovely combination but middle names very rarely come into use apart from when we're making these decisions!

With Charlotte, I was going to go for Charlotte Belle. If we had Annabelle, then DH can call her Anna and I can call her Belle Grin. I do like Anna but is it boring??

I have an Anna and have had lovely things said about her name (she's 1), but just to throw a spanner in the works Grin I adore Stella, my husband doesn't!

A vote for Annabel!

Anna is dull, Annabel is pretty, Annabelle is too much.

my DH thinks Anna is a "nothing" name, "like Jane or Mary"!! he loves Annabel/le.

i on the other hand find Annabel/le a bit fussy. Anna is dreamy. And so are Jane and Mary! classic and elegant.

No - Anna is so beautiful - classic, elegant, exotic.

Annabelle is far less so - fussy sounding.

Annabel is duller!

Remember Anna can be Annie for a pretty nn for a child.

Anna Lucille is lovely.

Now I'm completely confused! Think I'll have to sit on it for a while. Its funny because my favourite book is Anna Karenina and I have a boy called Leo. If we call her Anna, hope it doesn't mean she'll turn into a crazed woman!

it is beautiful and feminine, but if she turns out to be a little tomboy it isn't sillyfrilly.

Anna, for sure.
There are a million Annabels round where I live, it's the least original name ever.

thanks for all the replies! I think Anna is growing on me. feels like a stronger name. this may all change again though! annabelle is beginning to feel a bit flouncy . with my dd, I instantly knew what her name was and adored it.

its strange, but I think anna would grow into a feisty adult who knows what she wants and has no fear in doing it. whereas, annabelle would be a bit more flighty. just like her mum Grin

Annabelle....... Can always be Anna, belle, bella. I would say this though as its my name! I am 100% not a flighty adult or a ponce! I am from a different generation though and have only ever known one other person with my name! I now know several children! I have always hated my name shortened to Anna...,find it boring.
