What do you think of Anneliese?

I love Anna but it doesn't seem to flow with our surname. Been thinking of names which can be shortened Annabel is out (knew an annoying one and can't get over the connection). I came up with Anneliese, I love the way it sounds. The spelling is a bit Hmm though and she'll probably end up spelling it out for everyone constantly Hmm...

I find out the sex on Tuesday anyway, I already have 3 DDs so am struggling for a girl's name. There will be under a year between DD3 and this one and she is Ava so I think I'd quite like another A name.

I called my 11 month old DD Annalise so I'm biased but I love the name!

I also liked Anna but it didn't really work with out surname. Spent ages deciding on the spelling and decided on Annalise.

Ooh I prefer that spelling zonkin. What have people's reactions been? I mentioned it to a couple of family members and they pulled a face.

Annalise or Annalyse are the 2 spellings I have seen, they are both in their 30's now. I think it is a lovely name

Anneliese is a lovely name. Could be nicknamed Annie - would that fit with your surname?

Very pretty. Your family members obviously have no taste!

I have a sister Annalise. I think that spelling is as usual as the more european one that you mention. Beautiful beautiful name. Absolutely love it. We call my sister Annie also, which is really sweet (even though she is now adult!)

She is a gorgeous girl and wonderful sister so i might be biased Grin

I love Annaliese/lise,it is such a graceful name and adapts well to inevitable shortening by friends.

I like it. But nobody can spell it I warn you.

Have seen it written Annalice (like head lice fgs).

Anneliese spelt properly is lovely. I considered that name too.

Is a very common South African name, spelt Annalize.

Pretty name. Annelies or Annelise are the most common spellings in Belgium.

You can choose any spelling, apart from Annalice or anything beginning with Anal!

ValiumSingleton · 10/12/2010 10:09

yes. safer to spell it starting with Anne

Somebody posted about AnnaLeigh a while back. I thought they were having a larf, but I don't think they were.

If I ever decide to have another and it's a girl, I'm hoping Dh will let me name her Annalise. :) Beautiful

I like it very much, and prefer the Anneliese spelling. I was at university with a very beautiful Anneliese, so I'm sure that's auspicious!

DD2's mn is Anneliese so I'm slightly biased. We wanted a name to honour my grandmother Annie but since Annie didn't flow very well with our first name choice we decided to use Anneliese......I love it!
