What?

Those vagina jokes are vile.

Yuck.

Why do you care?

i cannot, cannot imagine the toll on her body that 19 pregnancies, births, breastfeedings etc has taken

that is the bit that worries me

i would also wonder how it is possible to love/nurture/care for 19 children equally

although i imagine there is a lot of help from the older ones and they home school IIRC?

i think 19 pregnancies is about 10 too many.

but chacun a son gout

they are financially secure, warm and loving, so can;t get too worked up about it

Each to their own.
She's a braver woman than me, I can only just cope with 2 some days.

Who are they hurting?

Um, their children. What kind of childhood can they have; they live in a huge dorm, all the girls in one room, all the boys in another, they spend pretty much all their time doing household chores and minding their younger siblings. How is that right, or fair?

I think she needs to stop breeding and start mothering.

Flipping heck her innards must be pate.

Surely having 19 babies can't be good for you?

And I can't imagine that there are many names beginning with J left for them to use...

Sidge · 01/09/2009 21:58

I remember watching the documentary when they had 15 and it made me sad how as soon as they were old enough the older children were buddied off with the younger ones, and basically parented them.

On good days their house must be wonderful, but on bad days / weeks

The house is so big they can probably hide from the noise.

i just think the post must be weird: "Dear mr/miss J Duggar" - how the hell do they know who letters are for?

She has 18 kids and has time to blog?!? Wow. Maybe she feels that not using birth control is part of her faith or something. Up to her isn't it?

They look really happy tbh. I can't imagine having more than one, frankly, which makes me pretty inadequate in the mothering stakes, but she looks like she loves it and so do her children.

Crikey, another Duggar baby. And she's going to be a Granny too!

largeginandtonic · 01/09/2009 22:13

They seem pretty happy to me.

They look after themselves very well, i love the organisation that goes in to bringing up such a huge family.

I would have 19 children if i could, the pregnancy is just incredibly hard work. I may have to make do with 7

I love it Some days are harder than others.

Congratulations Mrs Duggar. Your name with a J thing is obviously barmy though

YABU its not your choice whether they should stop or not

I suppose in terms of their carbon footprint it's not very good for the environment to have 19 kids.

YANBU
it's ridiculous. It's ridiculous because she will probably live a lot less than other women because of all the strain on her body. It's ridiculous because they can't possibly parent 19 children properly, and it shouldn't be the job of the older siblings to parent the younger. It's ridiculous because they are part of the quiverfull movement which sees children as appendages to their religious beliefs, not people in their own rights.

good for her.

ome people cope with pregnancy better than others. nobody ever believes me when i say i've got 5. not a stretch mark,nothing...
