So you're boasting that you're not following the pack (and missing out on a stonkingly fabulous show) by sharing a crappy pic on Facebook

So flaming what if you haven't watched it.. What's your point??

(ducks and gets ready for the YABU s)

I haven't watched it, but I have seen this and managed not to share. I also thought 'so what'.

Well that's bullshit anyway because there's no way 90% of the population watch GoT. Whenever I visit my cousins (who all have sky) and ask what they think of it, they look at me blankly.

How many people aren't on Facebook?

And how do we boast about that ?
FB is silly

How the fuck can anybody work out 90% of the population watch Westernised programme when a large section of the population has no access to media, and another section of the population are well under the age of being able to watch it? Hmm

It's the same as a friend of mine that smugly goes on about how she "doesn't watch TV" apart from the hours of illegally downloaded boxsets you gorge on... Hmm

I can't stand people who boast about not knowing/watching something that's popular.

'Kim kardashian? Never heard of her
Adele? Haven't a clue
Game of thrones? Oh no I've never even seen a five second trailer' that sort of thing bugs me

It's fine not to know things or have an interest but some people actually think they are above other people for not knowing/watching/caring and that irritates me.

YABU. Why get exercised over a thing they put on FB? I don't watch it either, the gore and awful-fates-for-babies are too much for me. It's a bit tiresome that everyone else is talking about it.

Yanbu
90% of the population watch it (is that including children) 😂 ha ha ha yeah sure.

Report
Queenbean · 07/06/2016 19:32

I don't watch it but don't give a toss about those who do

I never understand the competitive not-knowing. Ie, on a thread about the X factor people will come on and go "the what? I've never heard of it" / "who is Simon cowell? Never heard of him" etc

It doesn't make you cooler not to know! Just a dick for clicking on the thread you have no interest in

Yeah I get a bit tired of people going on about GoT all the time and getting judged when I say I don't watch it because I tried it out and didn't like it.

Oh my god. Heard it all now. Why would anyone give a flying fuck? And why would you boast about it ffs. I don't watch game of thrones AND I'm not on facebook. Does that mean I am mega cool?

I saw this and didn't get it either. Stinks of the 'I hate things because they're popular' mentality.

I would never post something so dumb. But I do get tired of people telling me over and over again that I should watch GoT. I tried. It's like Hollyoaks, but with worse acting. And shit dragons.

I thought that was what Facebook is for, frankly.
It's silly and not very mature, but then, posting what you had for lunch, et cetera, is silly, too.

I dislike GoT because of rape-as-wallpaper and male-gazey writing of the book it is based on, and therefore don't watch it.
Perhaps those people on Facebook are just looking for likeminded people in a world that seems to have gone crazy.

I haven't got sky too tight so it falls into the category of things I don't have to worry about.

Having said that, there is more and more drama advertised that I think I am missing out on.

Given that it's not on terrestrial TV it seems a bit unlikely that 90% of the population, even the adult population, has watched it. So it's a fail for hopeless hyperbole, and also because "I haven't a clue about [insert X piece of poplar culture], aren't I great" is a really really annoying stance.

However, GOT is fucking everywhere at the moment, and office kitchens around the country are full of people discussing twists and turns at extraordinary length with varying levels of knowledge and memory, so I'm prepared to cut people who are fed up a certain amount of slack.

There are a large number of GoT memes on FB. It's just a welcome bit of balance.

The Tunnel, on Sky Atlantic. Bloody brilliant and a crying shame neither series was broadcast on terrestrial channels.

I've never seen Game of Thrones either. But I dont feel like sharing that info on Facebook. I must write it on the back of a postcard and send it to 100 or so of my closest friends. Along with a picture of my dinner.
