To think I might be pregnant (please please tell me I am!)

So - I had unprotected sex about a month ago (I know I know - very stupid) The pregnancy risk was a worry, but my period arrived 8 days later so I figured all was good. Period was normal heavyish flow but quite 'clotty' (sorry for TMI!)

However, for the last few days I've felt really weird. My boobs are incredibly sore at a time in my cycle when they normally wouldn't be. I'm alternating between feeling nauseous and feeling so hungry that I can't get enough food down me. Do you think there's a chance I could be pregnant, even with having had my period.

I do have a pregnancy test but I'm putting off taking it as if it's positive it would be a bloody disaster!

So - before I take it I'm looking for reassurance - and please, no safe sex lectures - believe me this won't happen again!!

You had unprotected sex 8 days before your period was due (so probably a bit too late to catch ovulation if you have an average cycle) and then had the period as normal.

So if the unprotected sex was about a month ago that would mean that you're now roughly in the middle of your next cycle and the symptoms you describe could be down to ovulation coming round again.

You're probably not preg. But take the test and then you'll know.

If you had a period it is extremely unlikely that you are pregnant. Random hormone surges can occur at any time in your cycle, which can cause the symptoms you describe.

Take the test, ease your mind. And if it is positive, it's best to know now so you can consider your options as early as possible.

As stated by others, the chance of you being pregnant is very slim given that you've had a regular period so yes YABU to think you are pregnant, if in doubt test.

Well, the likelihood is slim as you had a period 8 days later, which was too early to be any kind of miscarriage or passing of a failed implantation or anything like that.

But you do have to test. If any of us were that magic at predicting pregnancy we wouldn't be pissing around on MN in the middle of the day, because we'd be out making our fortune.

If it was a normal period (ie not lighter than usual) then no, you are not pregnant.
