Might out myself here .... Hey ho!!!!

I'm 21+18 and have 3 DC. Ds8 DD 4 and our disabled DS6.

DS6 is still in nappies, he can't talk, requires a wheelchair as he can't walk far, his favourite programmes are on baby tv. He functions around 18-24 months. He has a rare gene mutation along with Cerebal palsy, epilepsy and autism. He is fed using a gastrostomy.
He wakes at 2-3 am and that's his morning so I am over over over over over overtired.

People are asking me "am I broody!?"

No I'm not .... I own a fucking massive 6 year old baby to be fair he is absolutely beautiful and only the size of a 4 year old but he's still massive.

I probably am being unreasonable as its mums my age who have gone on to have more than 3 children and I holding their newborn!!!

Don't bother ... I know I ABU but.....

I'm not broody !!!!!!

Confused you're pregnant but not broody? People are asking a pregnant woman if she's broody?
What??? Confused

Are you pregnant op? Sorry I'm confused!

TwoKettles · 06/02/2016 19:36

I've read this that you are 39... and I think it's nowt to do with anyone apart from you about whether you're broody.

ARe you 21 years and 18 days old?

I'm confused. Are you pregnant?

NeedACleverNN · 06/02/2016 19:42

I think 21 + 18 is supposed to be a way of saying I'm 39 but don't want to admit it

Report
SweetAdeline · 06/02/2016 19:45

If they're close enough to ask that question they are close enough to hear the truth. If anyone asks about my plans for my uterus at the moment I just tell them that we'd love another but despite trying for a year and a half I haven't been able to get more than 11 weeks pregnant. If they can't handle the answer they shouldn't ask such a personal question.

Oh I see. How odd...I have two dc and no one ever asks if I'm broody....so I'm baffled as to why they'd ask a mother of 3 dc that!

21+18=39

Wakey Wakey people!

YANBU, it must be so hard caring for all your DC when so sleep deprived. God only knows why someone would ask if you're broody. Assuming the asker is also sleep deprived, insane or has know idea what you're going through.

So you're 39? And don't want any more DC?

I think you're reading too much into it honestly. Lots of new mums pass over their newborns and then ask 'aww, is s/he making you broody?' They don't mean anything by it - it's just a way of conveying how blissfully besotted they are with their new baby. You're personal circumstances do sound difficult but I really would try not to get cross about this. It's very minor. Are you alright OP?

FoxesSitOnBoxes · 06/02/2016 19:58

Oi! What's with all the Hmm!? That's not very supportive Angry be nice everyone.
Don't listen to them OP. I had no idea what 21+18 was but really don't think that was the take home bit in your post. Anyway, YANBU.

Nodowntime · 06/02/2016 20:09

I thought it was a very funny way of saying your age, I thought I might adopt it!
And not for a moment did your post make me think you were pregnant, why on earth did people think that??

It is weird that you are being asked if you are broody, the only explanation I can think of is that you had three with 2 year gaps between them, and now it's been 4 years and no more kids, so people are making assumptions? And also in my experience whenever you are holding or being near a newborn, people ask you that!!

OneMoreCupOfTea · 06/02/2016 20:15

YANBU, people should think more carefully before asking personal questions. I imagine it is really hard bringing up three children especially when one is disabled.
21+18 obviously means 39, no need for all the confused faces

Why are people nitpicking over the way the OP expressed her age when she clearly posted for support?

That sounds bloody hard work Flowers. Of course you're not broody under those circs. I'm astonished that anyone would be so mannerless and stupid as to ask.

NoDownTime because when you're pregnant you count it in weeks + days. I've never ever heard someone say their age by making you add 2 numbers together

I'm 14 + 13 Confused

People astonish me every day.

I am asked the same thing fairly regularly, even by people who know my DH is terminally ill (and even by someone who knew that I'd have to have a termination if I did get pregnant because of the type of chemo DH is on).

You have my sympathies and Flowers and I send you much strength to deal with your lovely DCs

Hmm to all the people going Hmm , let's look past the irrelevant stuff and give her a bit of support, eh?

OP it sounds like they just have no idea. I had years of cringing when people asked me that in anticipation of me eventually having a kid. I thought it would stop when I had DS. It didn't, and he's only 8 months! He was under a month old when someone asked me when I has having another one. I just stared at her, I genuinely couldn't find the words. At that point I still couldn't sit down properly! You sound like you are doing an amazing job, just say 'yeah whatever' and carry on.

thatscottishbiscuit Shock at that person's stupidity and I'm so sorry for what you're going through.

I'm turning 40 this year and am shocked and quite hurt at the amount of 'friends' asking me since last year if I'm broody and I'll have just one more before I move into my 40's!!
I have suffered an ectopic resulting in a tube removal and miscarriages plus have pcos...its a very personal Subject for people to question you about so casually x
