You're chatting with a friendly aquaintance. The woman you're chatting to is speaking and unexpectedly / accidentally lets out a small but very obvious burp mis sentence .

She says "oh excuse me" and carries on talking .

Do you think she should be embarrassed? Would you think any less of her ?

Hmm she excused herself. What do you expect her to do? It's only a burp!

(Nor would I hoik if it was an accidentally audible fart either).

You think a normal bodily function, that she apologised for, is a reason to think less of someone?

I'd judge you.

Would I think less of someone for having a normal bodily function? No.
Would I think less of someone who did think less of someone for a normal bodily function? Yes.

It would be a weird thick person that thinks less of someone due to an involuntary bodily function.

no

What needs to be judged? Seriously? Is this an actual question? I hope it was you who did the burp and not the judging.

I'd be embarrassed if that we me, but I'd never judge anyone who did it. Who would? Confused You can't exactly help doing it.

I'd be mildly embarrassed if I burped in front of an acquaintance, but I'd have done the same thing - excused myself and carried on.

I certainly wouldn't think any less of someone for burping in my presence! It's something all human beings do and unless someone is being deliberately obnoxious about it, it wouldn't strike me as notable enough to care about.

I too am hoping you're the one who burped and not the judgy person, OP!

No.

If they lifted a bum cheek and let out a long fart then wafted it towards me I might.

BetsyMalone · 11/01/2016 10:03

Yes it was me who did the burping Blush

And I am horrified and so so embarrassed Blush

It was at a meal with the mums from my DS school .

I wondered if it was a reverse.
Don't worry, it happened you apologised. I bet most of the people didn't even notice

Report
GruntledOne · 11/01/2016 10:06

I really wouldn't think anything of it.

SaucyJack · 11/01/2016 10:06

Did you attempt the alphabet mid burp?

Can't say it'd bother me anyway. Burp happens.

Report
Snowglobe1 · 11/01/2016 10:06

No lol, I wouldn't think anything of it.

You daft bat. It's a burp, a involuntary bodily function. You said excuse me. Stop fretting.

Report
ChristmasZombie · 11/01/2016 10:07

As long as you said "Excuse me" then I see no problem!
You didn't blow the burp towards the person you were speaking to, did you?

Report
BlueSmarties76 · 11/01/2016 10:08

No, no judging. Very normal. I would only judge burping at the table if it's a teenager doing a massive comedy burp.

Report
Meeep · 11/01/2016 10:08

I wouldn't remember it two minutes later!

Report
Crispbutty · 11/01/2016 10:08

It wouldn't bother me..

I do find burping very amusing though and have often had burping competitions with my other half - immature me Grin

I'd probbaly only judge if she held her hand out and muttered hang on a sec before letting out a Shrek-like belch.

You said excuse me, nothing to be embarrassed about. The human body makes all manner of potentially embarrassing noises. Every human body.

OnlyLovers · 11/01/2016 10:21

Did you attempt the alphabet mid burp?

I'd actually applaud someone who did that, not judge. Grin

It's fine, OP. I get why you feel embarrassed, but you excused yourself. Did anyone react negatively? If they did, that says more about them than you.

MrsEricBana · 11/01/2016 10:22

Aw, definitely no judging would have occurred. Don't give it another thought.
