To do fuck all today

I have a term time only contract so I've had a lovely 6 weeks off with the dc. This is our last day off till October half term. I've spent a small fortune doing things with them and we've also had a few pyjama days.

I was going to take them to the park today and have a picnic but the weather has ruined that. If we stay in it will be a led on the sofa reading my kindle all afternoon sort of day. I'm not spending anymore money on them in an indoor place they've had enough.

I could iron my uniform, tidy up (although it's actually not that bad I've done quite a lot of sorting this holiday) batch cook and do ever so sensible jobs with my time. Instead I feel like wasting the day doing fuck all.

What would you do?

We're having a duvet day here too. Had all sorts of plans for today before back to work tomorrow but really can't be bothered.

Soft play here. But I've not spent much money on them. They've had a holiday and three day trips. They've been really happy going to parks, making friends and playing. We've had friends round, been out to friends, and they've played out on the street with ks2 friends whilst I watch them forget that they're actually 4&6 yrs and not 8&10 yrs. I've also taken to shouting 'car' everytime a car comes past so they get off the road. I've barely had to entertain them. DH HATES being stuck inside with two young DC so he chose soft play. I'd be surprised if he hasn't texted friends to meet us there.

We have one of these day coming up on Thursday (back to school Friday.....don't get me started!) and I am really looking forward to it.

YANBU. Enjoy.

I can't think of many worse things than soft play on a bank holiday.

DD is 14 months, I don't normally let her watch much tv but she's been watching mickey mouse clubhouse for the last hour. Might go buy some wellies for her so we can go for a walk later.

DH and DS playing computer games on sofa. Friend has just phoned to ask if her DS can come over too (or ours to theirs) I'm in kitchen on MN. DD still in bed.
Agree very drizzly here, a wet bank holiday sort of day! Brew
We have a week left before back to school though. Feels slightly like an unnecessary extra week though we do still have to get uniform and stationery sorted - some new folders for sixth form for DD Smile

Dd (4) is at school :( ds (8) is off sick and watching TV.

So far I've not achieved much but I need to gut the kitchen and clean it, tidy lounge and dining room, sweep floors and clean loo.

Totally wish I could have a guilt free sofa day - enjoy!!!!

I have the opposite problem. I really want to do something but DD is hurling in grand style (very inconsiderate of her!)

I feel unreasonably sad that I have to go back to work tomorrow!

originalwinky I remember the days of welly walking in the rain. We once got all our water proofs on and went to the park and played in the rain.

Thank fuck my dc don't need wearing out everyday like that anymore and are quite happy with pyjama days!

I did sweet FA yesterday - didn't even get dressed!
Every now and then I think it's good to have such days and for the DC to entertain themselves.

Go for it!

I've been out for essentials (lunch and dinner for a few days as we have plans tomorrow) but we're having a lazy day.

Going to use today to start toilet training DS we've been trying on and off for a while now but this is our first full day in for ages

So far we've had 3 accidents!!! We're on a time limit though as his nursery won't accept him unless he is dry.

Sounds like you've got that last day of the hols feeling big time, probably not helped by the rain? It's like the Sunday night feeling isn't it? I always think a good TV drama helps a bit with that and will be looking forward to the last series of Downton Abbey this autumn. Everyone needs a rest sometimes, especially before you know things will be getting busier again soon.
Hope tomorrow goes well for you too - and you enjoy your last day of the hols together as much as you can Smile

It's definitely that Sunday night feeling jiggling. We've just put on a harry Potter film. I think I may need to stock up on lidls bailey's, it's definitely the weather for it.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their fuck all day!

I'm lying on the sofa, crying because I'm watching DIY SOS. I need to go to the supermarket and do the hoovering but hey ho!

Report
BrandNewAndImproved · 31/08/2015 12:13

Those programs always get me tearful to marble, but then again so does the news somedays and even bloody poverty driven adverts for dc with no clean water in developing countries.

I'm still in bed!
DH has taken DS camping for the weekend. They are due back at some point this afternoon, so I'm making the most of the peace before they return!
So far today I've only got out of bed to use the loo and to fill a plate with left over Yorkshire puddings from yesterday's roast dinner, cover them in honey and bring them back to bed to eat in comfort! Blush
(In my defense, I'm massively pregnant with twins and probably won't have another leisurely weekend like this for about 16 years! Grin)

Mm I love Yorkshire's with sugar and jam!

I have no idea how I'm going to manage getting up so early again after 6 weeks of 9/10 o'clock starts!
