I'm 7(ish) weeks pregnant and have been suffering terribly with 'morning' sickness.
I wasn't this bad with DD1 as it was only in the evenings and this is all day, every day. I have not been sick a lot just feel sick all the time and I was wondering if anyone has any thing different to try other thanthe usuals that get suggested (ginger biscuits etc)

I gave up on meals. Grazed through the day. Keeping my energy up but never being full. The same with liquids. Any use?

poor you, I'm 14 weeks with my first and still the the thick of it :(

Lots of people told me to eat little and often, but that wasnt helpful to me at all, my stomach wasnt full enough to keep anything down. When I would eat a larger meal, I would just go and have a little nap and I felt better when I woke up. Is your sickness worse when you have an emptier tummy?

Also- ginger doesnt work for everyone, ginger tea and biscuits made me feel much worse! Try peppermint, polos saved my life for a few weeks and I still use them now, if I keep one in my mouth and just keep it there it really helped. Peppermint tea with meals helped me too.

Anything dry and crunchy to eat helped me. I grazed like cattle and put on weight but if it stopped the sicky feeling, it went down the hatch! Plenty of naps, if that's at all possible, too. Hope you get better soon!

horrible isn't it? and people think it is not that bad as you are not being sick. (being sick is worse, unless it brings relief for a while, but constant nausea is still really grim) I virtually had to stay horizontal from eseven weeks to sixteen weeks. i felt nauseus all the time. if I sat up or walked around I felt like I was about to be sick any second, and the exhaustion was crippling. h, got dd a bottle, she then ate ginger biscuits a snack sitting in her cot playing next to my bed, I fed her early lunch and then we had another bottle and nap until ex got home.

first pregnancy ate bran flakes, ginger pop, ginger biscuits, second cornflakes and ricecrispies (not together) and ate a lot more to attempt to keep the nausea at bay. put on a lot of weight.

Kinder chocolate and fudge helped me, as did avoiding salty foods. Eating little and often was much better than large meals which really made me suffer. I agree with PP that people seem to think it's not so bad if you aren't physically being sick but it can be truly awful. I had about 16 weeks of nausea and was about 20 weeks before I could trust myself not to randomly gag throughout the day.

I found just resting and eating what and when I fancied. I am 11 weeks now with dc6 and every time I have had sickness but this time it has been just awful, being sick 10 times a day not being able to keep much down. Thankfully it seems to be lessening now at least I can keep drinks and small meals down now!.

I found having sweets to suck and avoiding cooked food altogether was slightly helpful

good luck!

Different things work for everyone. I found there were so few things that I could look at and imagine putting in my mouth, that by a process of elimination they were what I ended up eating. Hula hoops have been a salvation in both pregnancies, whenever I leave it too long to eat and feel really sick, something about the salt and the relative solidity of them compared to a regular crisp really helped. I could always stomach egg mayo sandwiches and smoked salmon ones, so ate a lot of those, but I imagine for other people with morning sickness that would sound unthinkable. And then stodgy things like mac and cheese. At 7 weeks I still hadn't figured out what 'worked', as it took me a while to realise that I just had to have food to hand at all times, even if it was just dry crackers, and eat as soon as I felt the sick feeling creeping up. I felt like I ate constantly, but none of it big or that enjoyable, just something to keep the sickness at bay. And I always had to eat something bland and dry first thing on waking to get me going, even if I went on to throw it up, before starting the day properly. And I just couldn't worry about being healthy, it was simply a case of getting something in that my stomach didn't heave at the thought of. Bad luck getting it second time round. I had it horribly with my first but against all my expectations I seem to have escaped this time.

I was hospitalised with both pregnancies due to HG. Keep up your fluids even if you just sick it up again, your body will still retain some. Jellies and ice pops are useful. I also used to nibble on cheese, tomato and salad cream sandwiches. It's awful but it's not forever. Ginger did not help me at all. Also rope in as many people as you can to help out. Good luck

Constant grazing. Salty crackers and rice cakes were good. I also often wanted sharp tastes, so drank proper lemonade a lot, ate loads of tangerines too.
Boiled sweets were good too.
Think it's diffrent for everyone but having snacks by your bed so you're not up and about without anything in your tummy might help.
Just wait till the feeling stops then you get paranoid something's not right!

I found forcing myself to eat something in the morning (even though I didn't feel like it all) and not letting myself get hungry worked the best for me.

My normal 'healthyish' diet went out the window and I have spent the last few weeks eating McDonalds, ham and Mayo sandwiches and babybels all washed down with fizzy drinks!

I'm 12 weeks now and coming out the other side. I hope it passes quickly for you.

Ice cubes, ice pops, cold fizzy drinks to sip. Also sucking starburst when I suffered with hyperemesis for 34 weeks. The only thing I could eat a little bit of was mashed/jacket potato and occasionally chicken.
Hope you start to feel better soon x

Poor you! I had it all through my pregnancy last year. Eat whatever you fancy and dont stock up too much on things you like as you can go off them just as quick! I was also sick everytime I 'smelt' water Hmm

Anything with tomatoes for me, particulalry prawn crisps!? TBH the only foods I could stomach were biscuits cakes and crisps. a week after birth i weighed a stone less than before I was pregnant so all ok

Drugs.

Cyclazine was good. Please don't struggle through.

I did in my first pregnancy, 9 months of sickness trying all the ginger and herbal bollocks. Second pregnancy I couldn't face it and asked for medication.

Sounds vile and would not have considered before or after pregnancy but drinking marmite disolved in hot water gave me relief from sickness for a whole hour at a time - it was my saviour!

10 weeks pregnant with DC3 and really suffering - you have my sympathies

Not sure if havi g a 1 and 2 year old to look after is making it worse as I find lifting them makes me feel even sicker

I've just been grazing constantly. I basically am living on cut up pineapple (has to be M&S) and M&S chicken salad sandwiches and biscuits and frosties. I can ocassionally stomach hula hoops. No other crisps. Can also manage toast and cranberry juice. I'm too scared to weigh myself

I'm very rarely sick but feel sick all day long. I'm praying things get better at 12 weeks

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 21/04/2015 16:42

Actually, I've also managed smoked salmon too and some cream cheese. The thought of prawns or tuna however is horrific!

Double check your blood pressure. Mine was on the low end of normal and more salt reduced my MS by at least half.

And it's cheap Smile

None of the food solutions helped me. Second time around, I was introduced to acupuncture and that got me through. I was sick for around 18 weeks and this got me about five days of respite. I'd then Have 2 rough days and then another acupuncture treatment. Cost a fortune but was worth it.
