There is nothing pretentious about pronouncing a word correctly, IMO.

This is a good thread. Have never known how to pronounce this ( despite an A level in French) always thought it was Locky tan so good to know the correct pronunciation!

It's similar when people pronounce 'Moet' ... Moay, when it is Moet, with the 't'.

The problem with the Moet thing, is

1. Some people pronounce the T because they don't speak French
2. Some people don't pronounce the T because they do speak French
3. Some people know that it is a Dutch word and pronounce the T.

If you do 3, there is a danger that someone thinks you are doing 1.

I pronounce it LOSSY TAN I didn't think their was a 'K' sound in the word...

I've watched enough of it on QVC to know it's definitely LOCK SEE TAN.

I pronounced it Locky Tane today... in my defence I have never, nor will I ever, buy anything from there, so I can't see it being too much of an issue for me ;)
