I do it out of habit. Had to delete one from the bottom of an email to DS's teacher last week, he's a nice bloke but not that nice!

I can help you with that one Chaos - it's connected with the symbol of the cross and originally was used to signify sincerity and faith at the end of a letter.

Ah I knew it was something to do with the sign of the cross but I thought it was used as a symbol to signify Christianity when it was new and an ' underground' belief, a type of secret symbol thing?
