To expect an apology -or acknowledgement at least -from Tesco

I was in our local Tesco superstore yesterday afternoon.
Naturally it was thronged but there were lots of staff milling around answering questions etc.
I went to look at the Kindles as I might get one for Christmas.I was horrified to find hard core gay porn movie playing on one of the Kindle Fires. This was on the main display on the main aisle not on the smaller on in the side aisle. I have never seen gay porn before and felt really shocked to my core.Really shaky if you know what I mean.
Not wanting to leave the machine unattended, I tried to get the attention of one of the milling staff but they were too wrapped up in a deep conversation with a customer about phones and I felt deliberately didn't catch my eye .I then hot footed it to the customer services but it was several deep with people returning items etc.
I actually hopped from foot to foot in agitation as I fully expected some young teenager to have discovered the movie by now as it was so accessible.
Finally I got a young female staff member to follow me to the kindles .She was also really shocked and ran to get another staff member. He shrugged and told her to just turn it off.She ran back and yanked the machine from its moorings( the alarm didnt even go off !) and took it away.
I was sort of shadowing her to make sure steps were taken but she nor the man acknowledged me at all .
AIBU to ask Tesco for an apology and undertaking that this sort of thing will not happen again. I am going cold with the thought that on almost any other Saturday it could have so easily have been DD (12) seeing that movie.
I was, and still am, pretty shocked. Please dont tell me I should accept gay porn as a normal part of a Saturday afternoon shopping experience.
Tbf when you told someone they acted on it and removed it from display. What more do you want?
They will probably do their own work to find out how it happened.
'Shocked to the core'
Would an apology really make you feel better? Especially if you have to write to them to ask for it?
Seems a bit strange.

Someone, another shopper, will have put it on as a prank. I suspect now they'll change the settings on it.
You're a bit dramatic op.
Erm it was removed as soon as possible - what else could they have done? Made an announcement over the tannoy apologising for showing gay porn on their kindles
Sorry but
at Stuntgirl
They're not connected to the internet in Tesco normally are they?
If it was connected to the store wifi, it could have been a customer who put it on there could it not? They did act on it.
Mind you, I complained to our local Sainsbury as they made a big show of call of duty, black ops (rated 18) when it came out and they had it on show, right in the front of the store and young kids (about 8/9) were going up and playing on it. I went mad at them because my children naturally gravitated towards the computer screen to see what was going on. Sometimes stores just don't think!
"I tried to get the attention of one of the milling staff but they were too wrapped up in a deep conversation with a customer about phones and I felt deliberately didn't catch my eye"
You mean serving the customer? They probably didn't catch your eye as they thought you were trying to jump the queue. Might not be ideal, but it's understandable.
"I then hot footed it to the customer services but it was several deep with people returning items etc."
Were you expecting customer services to usher the waiting customers away to make room for you?
The first member of staff who was free to help, did help.
What more did you want??
It's not like the staff where the ones who put the gay porn on!
How do you expect them to stop customers going to a porn site and then walking off? YABU.
I thought that, EnglishGirl...
Why didn't you hit the off switch? Do you think bumsex is contagious?
If I were you I'd stick to fortnum's deliveries, more our class.
Exactly English girl . How did it get there ?
I have reported Stuntgirls post for troll hunting.
I am a long standing member who has every right to be shocked to the core by something so horrible. I also have the right to be concerned that this was very accessible . And I dont think I am being over dramatic by my concern that young people would be exposed to porn in this way.
They won't have been connected to Tesco's corporate network (where they could have controlled what sites they visited).
They'll have been on a wireless hotspot I imagine... Which, again, a customer could have connected to without the knowledge of Tesco staff.
So what more should they have done other than remove it like they did?
You are being very dramatic, aren't you, OP?
Tbh, it's not great and no, children should not have to see it. But it was obviously a customer being an idiot and not Tesco, wasn't it?
I'm sure they will change the settings now so that this can't happen again.
So YABU, Tesco have already done what they should've done.
I don't think she's being dramatic. I'd be furious that this was on, on a Saturday with young children in store. But then I move copies of shite magazines to top shelves.
They aren't connected to the internet in our local Tescos...
Be honest, you want compo, don't you?
You get free WiFi in Tesco but you sign in/up with a clubcard.
They removed it, what else did you want them to do, I'm sure they didn't put the porn on there just to shock you to the core.
I'm still puzzled at the thought of writing to them for an apology
It's Tesco. They don't really care.
I've had to leave the shop really upset before due to some b*stard bloke kicking off at customer services and me asking him to stop swearing in front of my children, or something like that and he then had a right go at me.
No one came to escort him out or help. I just put down our basket and walked out. When I emailed they said that he was a regular customer and was always doing it.
So he gets to behave like a giant rowdy toddler and everyone else has to put up and shut up.
Tesco don't care. But you did the right thing OP.
