I really don't know.
Blush
Surely the gusset is there for a bit of moisture leakage?
Or a sanitary towel for periods?
Or a pad for urine leakage?
My DM was useless at this sort of thing.
So, please explain.

They're usually used to keep you feeling dry.

I use them at the end of a period.

bringmesunshine2009 · 14/11/2011 22:49

Discharge. I believe.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 14/11/2011 22:50

I use them for the day before coming on as I have a brown dribble the day before, then I use them for day 3 &4 as I have the brown dribble again fr a couple f days but not enough to justify any onther sanpro.

The morning after a night of hot sex

rushofbloodtothefeet · 14/11/2011 22:51

Oooh, this is going to go all gusset bleaching and stuff. We haven't had one of those threads in ages.

without being too gross, I am currently pregnant and have had more discharge than normal and just feel much fresher and comfortable using them. I don't use them normally, except for maybe the days after my period has ended.

IneedAbetterNickname · 14/11/2011 22:53

They are for lining your panties :)

HardCheese · 14/11/2011 22:53

The advertising tend to suggests that it's marketed at women who live in pathological fear that their vaginas may not smell of air-freshener.

Who are in turn the spiritual sisters of the other women on the tampon ads who like their tampons to be so tiny and discreetly packaged that their dopey boyfriends regularly mistake them for gaily-wrapped boiled sweets when ferreting around in their handbags for a sugar boost. Wink

eurochick · 14/11/2011 22:54

I use them occasionally as a safety net at the end of a period when I am not quite sure whether it has completely finished. I don't understand why some people wear them at non period times. They must be very moist .

gaelicsheep · 14/11/2011 22:54

Since having DD I've discovered what they're for. Hormones have gone crazy recently and the gusset is not enough shall we say?

maybenow · 14/11/2011 22:55

I can't stand the things, but i did wear them for leaks when i used to use tampons and also for the last day after you are not bleeding enough for a tampon (now a mooncup user and don't leak and can wear it right to the end and beyond).

If i had that much discharge i think i'd rather just change my pants (as I do in summer if it's very sweaty)

DoMeDon · 14/11/2011 22:56

Discharge. especially helpful if you have a mass dogging session night before.

cees · 14/11/2011 22:56

I used them during pregnancy because of all the extra discharge. I couldn't be walking around with soggy knickers all day and pantyliners did the job efficiently.

effingwotnots · 14/11/2011 22:57

Snail trails

Sillyoldelf · 14/11/2011 22:58

Are you a teenage boy by any chance ?

Popbiscuit · 14/11/2011 22:58

Hahahahahaha! "Gaily-wrapped boiled sweets".

Eurochick I think you should ask to have your post deleted for using the word "moist".

MissVerinder · 14/11/2011 23:00

Sweaty fanjo- not always practical to change your pants.

trulyscrumptious43 · 14/11/2011 23:00

Have you ever been on a trampoline at any point after giving birth?
Or sneezed?
Or coughed even?

bumpybecky · 14/11/2011 23:08

mirena = more discharge than normal + random spotting when you least expect it = better to wear pantyliner :(

AmberLeaf · 14/11/2011 23:11

They are for irritating your labia minora.

Chafing.

AmberLeaf · 14/11/2011 23:12

Or as my mum used to say;

'They are for women that dont know how to wash their fannies'

AmberLeaf · 14/11/2011 23:12

......'or their knickers'

AlwaysWondering · 14/11/2011 23:13

Nope.
I am female, and am of a decent age. Just a namechanger who was a bit embarassed to be outted on naivety issues.
Thanks for replies, I think I was of the thought that they were something created by the sanpro companies to make us spend more of our pounds (+VAT) than really necessary.
And as someone said upthread to make us smell like Glade.
I now see there is a need for them, thanks for your candidaness.
Smile
