Same could be said for those who go to festivals. Different strokes and all that. Some people are really excited and it's an historic event, why not? and why care?

Yes but at festivals people have talent, can understand singers/groups having fans camping out, but a wedding slightly different, can't get excited over a wedding of people I do not know personally.

A friend of mine got told by a colleague, that "as a British passport holder, you should be getting excited about the wedding". Really? I don't remember THAT being anywhere on the passport.

I couldn't think of being anywhere worse than at a hippy festival, to me the concept is utterly alien, but I know some like that sort of thing and it's no skin of my nose.

Some people are just excited and want to be part of something, I say fair play to them, not causing any harm.

The same thoughts have crossed my mind this morning! I admit that I'm quite looking forward to watching the wedding tomorrow, but from the comfort of my house. Camping is not my thing so there's no way I'd be camping out in central London inhaling exhaust fumes. What do they do about the loo?

Actually there's a bit of me that would like to be there - particularly at the part where the crowds all surge forward at Buckingham Palace when the Royals come onto the balcony - and we wait for the kiss. That looks like fun.

Good point about the loo, georgie22. If they pop to find a loo they'd loose their spot. They must do it in their sleeping bags. Weirdos.

DD saw a report about this on the news. Her eyes lit up as she remembered our tent. I am a miserable cow and told her that we wouldn't be doing it. She isn't even getting a day off school.
The thing that both of us wondered, was where are the toilet arrangements situated. When we do go camping, if any of us are needing to pee in the night, we can just go round the side or back of the tent. Those outside WA don't have that luxury.

I did laugh this morning when they were interviewing a couple of those sleeping out and they asked what they thought the dress was going to be like and one of the women said "BORING!" haha! I bet she is kicking herself now, thinking "Oh God, why did I say that? I must look like a loon"

The Telegraph put it rather nicely when they described them as "Royalists and eccentrics".

It's not unhygienic though - they're in small groups take it in turns to go and wee - one set interviewed had a nearby hotel room for showers etc as well, and I suspect all the veterans of this type of pavement camping will have done the same.

I think that it is lovely that we are a notion of eccentrics. It gets a prime spot, if you want it and I expect that it is a sort of party atmosphere.
I don't like crowds, the cold or being uncomfortable so I can't imagine doing it for sales, tickets or anything. Nice however that some people do.
