to put ds in bath straight after dinner?

Running late. DS having dinner right now and taking bloody ages. I absoloutley promised him a bath tonight so he could use his new bath bomb. The only way to fit it all in is if he has a bath straight after dinner.

What's the worse that could happen?

He gets cleans and plays with his bomb.

What do you think could happen?

We always do that. I can't see the problem

Is it wrong to do that? My two always have their bath straight after dinner otherwise they would be late for bed which eats into my wine and cigarette time!

Errr what do you mean what's the worse that can happen?

He's not going to swim in it is he? Grin

hehe usual Grin

I think it's an urban myth that people get stomach cramps if they go swimming after eating.

He'll be fine in the bath Smile

That's a typical night here for us! Dinner and then DD (as a result of eating dinner) needs a bath!

Oh? Am I the only one that's been following that rule (that I'm sure I haven't made up)? I thought you were supposed to wait at least half hour after a meal before having a bath.

Why?

Never heard that one before

No, I have that rule too. I find if I bathe too soon after eating my temperature goes unnaturally high, and although I cool down after the bath I still feel gnarly for hours!

I thought that was swimming?

To be honest you're supposed to digest your dinner before dashing back over the park to rush around playing football like a mad thing...but try telling that to any of my boys.

Stomachs of iron the lot of them! Grin

ha ha we always got told you shouldn,t have a bath after eating its one of them silly old wifes tales i think its related to the swimming, never understood the connection of getting stomach cramps from just sitting in the water as opposed to doing several laps at the pool,my mum also told me never to go up the leg with a razor as well so for years i couldn,t understand why i had hairy bristly legs until at 20 a friend explained Grin im just about to put mine in tub after tea by the way

This is what snopes has to say about eating and swimming straight afterwards, a lot of old toss apparently.

Well thanks all, that's a bit of life changing information. After 6 years of being restricted by this silly rule, I will now throw caution to the wind when it comes to the evening routine. I'm actually quite excited.

(sigh) I don't get out much.

What about the not going to bed straight after you've eaten dinner rule?

I was such a skank when I was a teenager...I used to actually eat my dinner in the bath on a Friday evening.

I used to finish work later than my friends and couldn't wait to go out clubbing...so I used to buy chicken and chips on the way home, stick the box on a little plastic soap rack and tuck in whilst soaking Blush
