AIBU?

... to have Mumsnet on the brain?

Hi, longtime lurker here. I was a F/T working mother but recently became carer for family member, as well as F/T SAHM.

I have since discovered MN, and have been addicted to reading the forums here. (Particularly AIBU.)

I was hanging the washing out earlier and found myself 'chanting' in my head: "yaa-boo, yan-boo, ahhh-boo nan-boo" repeatedly in my head. (No idea where the last came from.)

How do you all read/"hear" abbreviations in your heads?

funny!

MN is an on the brain kinda thing, once an MNer always an MNer, even when I've had long breaks from posting, I class myself as an MNer... been here 6 years

The main time I think of MN is when I pass our new Greggs!!! Always make me laugh Smile

I always seem to think of MN when I'm in the shower for some reason, or if I'm pouring a glass of wine.

I find I want to make Grin and Hmm faces in real life...

I dreamt about AIBU last night Hmm Grin It makes a change from dreaming in numbers after doing sudoku too late in the night!

I often go to say to people "well dh or ds this or that" and then realise that I'm talking to people who know their real names Grin

Oh yes! Am now beginning to think in YANBU/YABU terms, so YANBU.

I don't HEAR the acronyms in my head, but I do SEE them. I see spellings running across my brain, like that teleprint thing that used to show football results.

Plus, I am spending far too much time on MN too.

I don't have a dh and I can't bring myself to refer to my son as "ds", without thinking of the compact game system!

Thanks all, glad yann-boo or IAN-boo! Have reposted this in chat, probably more appropriate!

Haha, helibee, I remember OD-ing on Angry Birds at Christmas. All I could see on closing my eyes was little green pigs and primary-coloured birds. Know exactly what you mean about Sudoku and I am same with cryptic crossword clues (from Grauniad, Toby Young) disturbing my thoughts.

I joined MN in January. I've worked out most of the abbreviations but I still don't know what IYSWIM stands for. Help please?

No, you can! Save yourself. It's all in the mind. There is hope yet.

I say aay-boo all the time! And I also refer to DH and DS. Blush And also...this is possibly the most embarrassing...I type British English instead of American. Some phrases are starting to creep into my speech as well, though. :)

I forgot to add that I'd also like to make Grin and Hmm faces in real life. Maybe like the scoring cards in strictly, I could have one of each Grin

Also mumsnet is an addiction, no leaving for me

Confuddled, that's how I read it too sometimes, depending on how tired I am. I think mumsnet need to add a sleepy mummy emoticon

I know, CY, I have nearly posted an AIBU on dreaded FB.

I need a job now. My personality is far too addictive to be dabbling in these dangerous waters. Rohanda how can I stop now?

I haven't started thinking in MN acronyms yet but if I've been doing lots of work on the computer and then do some paper-based work I do think 'I've done quite a bit, I ought to save my progress' or 'that's not right, I'll undo that last bit'!

The first time I saw IYSWIM (not on here), I read it as I You Swim. I couldn't understand why a complete stranger was inviting me to go swimming.Confused

I dreamed I was FIGHTING with ShowofHands over David Mitchell the other night.

I started like you, wanting to use the Hmm face, thinking about threads while in the shower.

Then it sucked me in and now I dream about people I've never met.

There really is no hope for me then.
