My DS was very recently born weighing 11lbs 5oz

I have a friend who has had three 12lbs+ which is especially gobsmacking as she is quite a small thing and has natural births.

Chubby Bubba

I don't know how much I weighted in at, but I was so big they put me on the at risk register because they thought I might have water on the brain, and my mum had to cut the feet off all the sleep suits because they where not long enough.

Thats almost 3x what I weighed when I was born! Congrats :)

My last weighed 10lbs 4 that was 1989..big enough. 11lb 5oz is not the worlds biggest by a long shot though. Not even UK's. Feels like it tho probably.Grin.

A friend of mines 3rd was over 13lbs...she was strongly advsed not to have another as it would, most likely, have been bigger. My largest was a megre 8.5lbs..the mere thought makes me wince!

My three were 10lbs 8, 11lbs 6 and third, induced a week early was 10lbs 15. I do not have Gestational Diabetes. They were just huge.

DD2 was 10lb 6, induced at term. I know it's not as big as some, but wanted to say her birth was WAY easier than DD1's at 8lb 13, and I had no damage at all either.

Manshape was 14lb 2oz, apparently.

You have a bit to go yet. A woman in brazil gave birth to a 17 pounder a few years back. Not something I would ever want to experience!

its not likely, but I do feel you deserve a medal of some sorts at least -assuming it was a vaginal delivery!

Congrats!

Wow, congratulations!

DS2 was 10lb 7oz, that was big enough! Birth was not as bad as ds1 though, he was forceps, and 9lb 4oz.

I am nearly 6ft and the DP is 6'5". DS finally wrenched out at 3 weeks overdue by caesarean weighing in at 10lb 10zs. MY DS is a big bonny lad of 4 now - taller than average but - he still takes the right size clothes for his age.
Congratulations on your lovely big babe.

Someone I worked with was 14lb something (He's 6'6" tall & build like a barn door!) - as he told me smugly when I was saying DS was a big baby (a tiddler at a mere 10lb 10.5oz Wink)

Hospital m/w said to me that they get "only a small handful" of babies a year near & over 11lbs & this was at a hospital with about 4,000 births a year, so yes your DS is a big 'um but not that unusual!

(I was also told DS would be 9-9.5lbs from growth scan!)

DS was 11lbs 14oz. Had no idea he would be so big (thankfully - I know people who've been forced into having CS due to baby's size)

I was a minor celebrity in the ward - all the MWs kept popping in to see the giant baby Confused it was quite nice though, it really boosted me through the post-birth hormone craziness when they were so full of praise.

It was a pretty easy birth compared to my first (8lbs 4oz), but it wasn't entirely positive as he was jaundiced and had low blood sugar, due to his size and the speed of his birth (heavier babies often come out quicker)

Not sure why he was so big, I had the GTT which was negative but they said I may have developed it later. Anyway, he's now 18m and certainly people comment on how tall he is, but he's not enormous. I actually stopped getting him weighed after 3 months as I could see he was growing fine.

My midwife friend has delivered on that was a fair bit over 13lb. Both parents were over 6ft tall, so I guess it's all relative. I did wince when she told me though! Shock
