I did holiday work at a rose farm as a student, and they used to "stock up" on cut roses in advance (in cooler rooms), which were then delivered to florists just before Valentines. I've convinced myself that that is why bouquets sent at Valentines last so much shorter than any others. After the first couple of Valentines with my dh (then DP), we've got an understanding: I love receiving flowers, but any other time than mid Feb.

I know we're slightly skint, but that didn't stop him spending plenty of money on his car last week.

If there had been no roses, I could have accepted that it's all commercialised hype, hoped for some another day, convinced myself that real men know V day's a con etc etc.

It's just insulting! And I can't say anything because obviously that would be ungrateful and wrong, which I why I'm taking this opportunity to complain with you.

When I was single I pretended not to give a shit - now I am in a happy relationship I bloody well loved being taken out Friday night, getting a text this morn from OH telling me there was a present (Perfume) and a crad under my bed (he works away) and haveing a massive bouquest of flowers delieveref to me in the middle of a large meeting and seeing all the other ladies green with jealously - smug me?
