AIBU?

To wonder if Jan and Feb have ANY redeeming features?

Crap weather, ugly bare branches, no nice Christmassy feel in the air, everyone tired and coming down with something.

Can anyone tell me something positive about this time of year?

YANBU. I hate Jan and Feb (and early March because its never as springlike as you feel it should be).

Nearly half-term. Can you go away for a day or two?

The only redeeming feature of February is that it's shorter than any other month. January has none.

Feb is short.

Agree Jajas - Spring is coming - the days are getting longer - my spring bulbs are poking through - joy! And....it's a good excuse to stay home and hibernate at weekends doing crafty stuff and baking with the children

Let me see:

Broken resolutions
Big electricity bill
Putting on weight from eating casseroles and puddings

Nope, sorry, nothing!

February is short, and my birthday month too :)

Oh and I hate Valentines day too. Big overprices bunches of flowers and restaurants cramming everyone in and people getting upset if they don't get a card. [grumpy emoticon].

YANBU
There is a Van Morrison song (Can't remember what it's called) and at the end he sings and repeats - "Gotta get through January, gotta get through February . . . ."
They are indeed vile.
Soon the sun will shine again.

Well I try to make these months more cheerful by getting out and doing stuff. In Feb I have a girls night out, weekend away for DS birthday, Paul McKenna seminar and DHs birthday party. Lots of stuff to look forward to!

Always so glad to have DD's birthday to look forward to. She will be 16 next week ( and has a Higher maths prelim on her birthday).

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

nope. Nothing. Nothing at all. And more snow is predicted for London this friday, so it's pretty much all rubbish. (apart from people's birthdays)

I hate February, next week is shaping up to be 40 degrees plus, and when in the UK it is at its most cold and yuck.

I like September.

I like January and February.

I have family birthdays where we all get together and do family stuff.

I'm losing the Christmas weight and feeling healthier and more virtuous.

I'm delighted by the bank balance because it shows me I did well over Christmas. It means I feel able to save for the year ahead, which makes me feel more secure.

I love beginning a new year with new plans, budgets and resolutions.

I like the cold weather, because you wrap up warm, snuggle under blankets and take hot water bottles to bed. Home seems more cosy and welcome when it's horrid outside.

When you take the DC to the farm, there's lambs.

I found some daffodils beginning their journey up from the soil today when we were feeding the ducks and geese, which only ever seem hungry for my bread in the Winter months.

Dark nights mean it's easier to settle the DC to bed early if I am tired.

It just depends how you look at it. If you think miserable thoughts, they're going to be miserable months.

February is my, my step dad, my twin niece and nephew, one of my sisters in law and one of my brother's birthday.

So we like it in my family!

natural thats ok, it will brighten your Febs from now on to have a lovely birthday to look forward to! And we are getting further away from Christmas every day!

I have often thought, since both dates are rather arbitrary, that we should move New Year's Day to the Winter Solstice, which must logically be the beginning of the New Year. Then Christmas could be moved to the end of February when we need it most.

The days get MUCH lighter in February ALLOFASUDDEN it's going to be light in the mornings. The buds are fat and the snowdrops and crocuses are coming up. Feb only has 28 days and after that it's March, which is spring proper.

And all the hideous Christmas tat is gone gone gone till, oh, at least August.

Sometimes it can be warm and springlike in February. I remember walking on a beach at Felixstowe in a tshirt on Valentine's Day one year.
