If it were me, I couldn't bear to keep the name of the twunt who cheated on me.

Is she keeping it for commercial reasons?

Yes, I know it's another Cheryl thread - sorry.

Cheryl Cole sounds a bit more glamorous than Cheryl Tweedy. She was famous before but has become ultra famous since becoming Mrs Cole so maybe she wants to keep it for that reason.

However, if it was me I'd change my name back. It would be different if there were children involved but they don't have any!

its better than Tweedy though. Although her MrsC tattoo makes me laugh, I knew an old cleaning lady called Mrs C.

Apparently she is keeping it because she is most well known by that name, so yes, commercial reasons.

To answer your question, yes, YABU. It's her name and she shouldn't have to give it up just because the man she married is a twat.

The problem is that her first couple of singles in Europe were realised just before she split with her husband, so she is known as Cheryl Cole. If she changes to Cheryl Tweedy, her name will be meaningless in Europe.

Agree it sounds more glamorous than Tweedy. But personally I would cringe every time I heard it.

why should she?

'Cos she's not married to him any more and is only keeping it to make money.

YABU. It's entirely up to her what she calls herself.

Didn't she also get prosecuted for a racist assault under the name Cheryl Tweedy? That's probably why she'd prefer to lose it - and the connection - for good.

she might well have done in her every day life, on her bank statements etc and be contiuning to use her name for professional purposes as that is the name he professional profile and reputation were built under.

I couldn't give a flying crap about CC or her divorce, I think she is a waste of column inches, truth be told, but the above stands for her just as it does for other professional, divorced, women.

Just as some professionals (such as Dr's) keep their 'maiden' names professionally after marriage but use their married names in their personal lives.

booy - no he doesn't have rights over her name.

Maybe the question is phrased wrong...

IABU to think that it is sad to hang on to the name of an XH who treated you like shit for commercial purposes?

Is that any better?

Cheryl Tweedy batters toilet attendants.

Cheryl Cole is a famous and stylish but vacuous beauty who knows so much about the music industry she is a weekly judge on a very well respected singing contest.

Its just a matter of choosing which is the least crap.

If she goes back to her maiden name she goes back to the name with the criminal record attached as well. Cannot stand the violent thug! Not normally bothered by slebs but sooooo annoyed that everyone thinks she is a darling

Cheated on her?

Or arrangement.......

She should get something out of him, if it's more commercial success then why not YABU.

I have my shit ex step dad's name, but feel I made it my own, so I see no reason to change (much to DH's upset)

but mardy it isn't his name now. it's her name. it's the name she has been using since she married. she owns her name. it isn't a case of hanging on to a man's name. it is her name.

If she goes back to Tweedy people might remember the time she assaulted a toilet attendant. Cheryl Tweedy on the other hand is everyone's sweetheart, the poor victim of a cheating husband.

Balls, I meant Cheryl Cole on the other hand.
