Braindead. Shameless outsourcing. Ideas for 4yo and 21 month old DDs?

I have no ideas.

I had a few ideas but have given them away to grandparents/auntie who had no ideas either. So now I have nothing.

Neither DD has any "major passions" - they are interested in most things a little bit. They both love books, and I have some on order, but I can't just get books. Can I?

Please tell me something your DD loved at age 4 or age 21 months?

If you scroll down this thread you will find lots of ideas!

You don't need to worry too much about the 21m old. She will just want the elder's toys.

Sylvanian families?
Playmobil set?
Junior Lego?
Big crayons and paper for 21mo
Colouring stuff for 4yo
Easel and accessories
Play tent (Ikea do them as do GLTC)
Orchard games for 4yo + simple Snap/Bingo for 21mo
Farm animal set for 21yo

Thanks EmGee! Which thread did you mean, or do you mean the christmas topic in general?

This is where I have to Blush and admit they have most of your list already...

We don't have any Sylvanian/Playmobil/Junior Lego though, I will have a look at those thanks. Is a 4 year old too old for Duplo?

Duplo is a good shout, the older one would probably enjoy showing the younger one what to do (and build towers. Lots of towers). :)

I suspect at the moment the younger one would destroy the towers and older one get upset but hopefully that will change in a few months...!?

Quite like the idea of a joint present!

21 month old - a toy kitchen or happyland stuff.

my 4 yr old loved playing shop - a till and toy from from ELC plus some plastic fruit and veg to 'sell' to you.

My 4 year old wanted (and received) a yo-yo last year Xmas Grin we don't do lots of presents tbh. Books are great, simple craft kits? Chunky toys that move? Bath toys?

Oh god... have to admit we already have the kitchen, till and play food... probably have a yoyo somewhere... DD had a birthday party in October and was given lots for that... basically they are very lucky girls who have everything already Blush Blush

Bath toy is the idea I suggested to my sis (the DDs' auntie)

Happyland I will look at thanks

DD's request was for a light and horn for her bike, bless her. I can do that but it's from Santa so need something from us...

DD2 is trickier due to inheriting everything from DD1 but you're right, she won't know. Just don't want DD1 to get the idea that she gets lots and DD2 gets hardly anything? Hence liking the shared present idea.

Ez fort? Scooters? Space hopper for 4yo?

You need some of these. I post them on every toy thread for this age because it is the best toy ever. We started with the smaller saxoflute set when ds1 was 2. It's been played with every day and he's almost 12 (and still building things with it now!). The translucent ones are great too.

Space hopper is perfect for DD1. Actually would be really good for her too (she has core muscle weakness). Thanks

The saxoflute thing looks great though DDs would both be more into blowing it than building it. Does it make an annoying noise...?

What's an EZ fort... off to google.

What about a picture book? This one's cute as you can personalise it with their names: www.findmeagift.co.uk/gifts/christmas-personalised-book.html

Or Duplo? Bath toys?

Bit of a random one but my niece absolutely loved playing with a toy hoover at that age!

Ez Fort looks great but we found it very flimsy, didn't stay together and the poles ended up getting used as swords instead!

Sorry - I meant scroll through the Christmas thread. I have seen others asking similar questions! Also, for the 4yo, you could a Robert Sabuda pop-up book and read it to her/look at it under supervision. Do not let the 21mo anywhere near it though!!!!

Also what about a bike for the 4yo and a 3-in-1 Mini micro scooter for the youngest? Nice big presents but useful too!

We have a similar issue with 5yo ds and 2.7 dd - they don't need anything! I have bought:

Ds - Hexbugs, remote control gup, lost my name personalised space adventure book, more books (they love them!) and others have bought him rescue bots transformers, dressing up stuff

DD - we've bought her a microphone, dolls clothes, books, toy rocket from wow toys and a toy mouse (her only request!) Others are getting her a dolls pram, puzzles, etc.

Both have loved the octonauts toys and I would say they're well made. I bought a sylvanian rabbit family last year but hasn't really been used. Playmobil 123 barn set has gone down a storm with dd since last Xmas though. And they both love duplo though it's expensive for not much in a set.

I would second the 3 stage micro scooter - dd got one for her 2nd birthday and she's now on the main scooter bit and it's been brilliant.
