ideas for advent calendar for student teen.

As some if you know, young constantly has just started university (and I had a small glow when he chose some winter patterns for his bedding for December) and I would like to send an advent box with small gifts in envelopes for him to countdown to Christmas towards the end of term. I was thinking of doing mainly v small with about one £5 gift every week. Any ideas.?

Miniatures of alcohol, chewing gum, Starbucks voucher, scratch cards, plectrum? Joss sticks, noodles, chilli sauce, bottle opener, choc coins, family photos...

What about a different £5 voucher every other day, (tescos, coffee shop, cinema, etc) its so good when you're a student. I speak from experience

Stationery bits, Mars bars etc., wind up torch keyring, one of those tubes that can be a hat or scarf, microwaveable handwarmer, lemsip, cough sweets, chap stick, a toothbrush, magic flannel, USB memory stick, USB snake light, double jack for headphones, hot chocolate sachets, a thermos mug...

Ooh that sounds like such a nice idea! I second the voucher idea - I'd have loved that! My mum used to send me Christmassy postcards and things and even once a little cardboard penguin to make when I was a student. I used to love getting them!

Thank you for the suggestions. I have a few v cheap bits tucked away from past Christmas bargains purity "somewhere safe" I might see if I can find mini panne tonne etc for a Christmas feel.

Tesco have some of their Christmas food range in, and they have mini Christmas puddings and individual iced fruit cakes. I think they're £1.50 each, or 2 for £2.

Love that idea too. It would even add to his fruit intake. I could have one Christmas food item a week for him, one chocolate novelty, etc.
Who says Christmas can't be fun with older children!
