I hear lots of people saying that they do buffet style picky food on Christmas Eve. I love the idea of this.

Could you tell me what food you include in this or give me some ideas?

Is it terrible that I love hearing about Christmas food so much Blush

Is there a glutton emoticon? I would use the cake one but I ate it Wink

I do a Christmas party a week or two before Christmas with buffet style food. This year it's going to be:

Smoked Salmon Soda Breads
Soy and Cranberry Glazed Cocktail Sausages
Fully Loaded Potato Skins
Spiced Nuts
Breadsticks with hummus

Christmas Rocky Road
Chocolate Cookies
Glitter Cookies
Peanut Butter Cups

Eggnog Syllabub

It's mostly to mop up the booze to be fair Grin

Big pot of mushrooms, cooked with garlic, cream and Stilton with naice bread on the side
Slices of ham roasted in coke
Cocktail sausages mixed up with onion marmalade and baked to sizzling in the oven.

Making me hungry!

On Christmas Eve we tend to just do a ham, some soy and cranberry glazed cocktail sausages and some nice cheeses and bread with pickles and chutney, maybe a few olives and crisps & dips too.

When we put up the tree, though, we have more 'party food' type things...sausage rolls, tempura prawns and dipping sauce, duck spring rolls etc. I always like looking through the M&S Christmas food brochure for inspiration!

p.s. I love hearing about other people's Christmas food too!

Oh my god all of that sounds divine.....hurry up Christmas!

We have done honey and mustard cocktail sausages before, we must have a trial run of the soy and cranberry ones...yummy!

Keep the ideas coming!

All sounds delicious (except possibly the virus toppings Wink ).
im looking for ideas too, so marking place. Have been thinking about mini pizzas shaped like Christmas trees for dd. In the past we've done mini toad in the whole which are basically cocktail sausages in yorkshire puds. glazed ham is always good. we did a good one with maple syrup and jack Daniels once. yummy.

We serve a traditional Swedish 'Jul bord' (Christmas table). Almost everything is made in advance. It makes for a very relaxing Christmas Eve, which is the day we celebrate.

Every family will have their own favourites, but a Christmas ham, meatballs and home made Gravad Lax is almost always a staple.

Baked camenbert with garlic and rosemary is really easy. Put some french bread next to it for dipping

Nigella's ginger jam and mustard cocktail sausages are easy and fab

Dates, where you replace the stone with an almond and some brie, and wrap the date in streaky bacon and oven cook, are divine!
