I've not been over Christmas, they might not even be open, but West Midlands safari park is great. Similar to longleat but cheaper and (I think!) better.
My aunt swears by the Christmas markets in Birmingham, but we've only been here one Christmas and haven't tried them out yet!

Victorian Fayre in Worcester, at the end of November. And of course the German Christmas Market in Birmingham throughout most of December. The hot Pimms and the little pancake things are the bomb.

Meh to the German Markets. Too busy, too over priced and too the same as every year. Unless you have never been before, in which case they are great.

The Severn valley steam train with Santa is meant to be awesome. Lickey Hills on Christmas Eve is eerie and beautiful and special.

The Botanical Gardens usually have some stuff on too. And there is the Birmingham City Centre parade and lights switch on. Usually last week of November though.

Santa Safari at west mid safari park is great. Think it was about £50 for two kids and two adults. They get to meet santa in a fab grotto, have a photo then choose a crappy bit of plastic tat present. Plus you get to see the animals and go round the safari bit. The rides are shut though.

Adults get a hot choc included.

Everything stillhoping has mentioned.

We love the Christmas light switch on in bewdley early December time, we go every year. Really christmassy loads of stuff to see and do fun fair, market, music, parade, Santa. There's usually a park and ride at the school as the roads and bridge are closed.

I really didn't enjoy Birmingham Christmas market last year (first year I'd been) it was too busy, too expensive and full if tat! The Severn Valley steam train us great, asis WWebb's garden centre, the Christmas section is lovely. Think we'll go to Thomas land this year, I'ce heard it's fab.

The Bham market you need to go pre-5pm on a weekday. Weekends aren't even worth contemplating.

Definitely Severn Valley railway and the Worcester victorian market.

The Birmingham Christmas market didn't do much for me, personally.
