What is the big, fat, hairy man called in your house?

I tried going for Father Christmas, but to me it is a mouthful, so Santa it is.

I grew up with FC....but it's Santa up here in Scotland.

We use both in this house. I usually say Father Christmas, but 'Santa Claus' requires less writing when it comes to letters - I have lazy children!

I just wonder if the child might get confused. As I said, I prefer Santa, but for example yesterday we went to see DSs aunt and she used FC.

Santa - I understand the tradition behind this. I don't even know where "Father Christmas" comes from.

I grew up with Father Christmas so try to do that but Santa is everywhere so difficult not to confuse them. DD (3) seems to have grasped the two different names so guess I will carry on with Father Christmas.

Its Father Christmas to me.

Unfortunately I live in Scotland, so it's Santa to everyone else. I have to keep correcting myself for DD. Grin

Santa. Another Scot here.

Father Christmas sounds like a rather severe old man that really would only bring you a lump of coal if you were naughty whereas Santa sounds lovely and jolly, who would sneak you a treat even if you'd been Bad.
