Ideas for 19 month old boy

I just haven't a clue. He's too young for train sets and too old for block puzzles.

He doesn't seem to like drawing or painting yet. He likes books and Bob the Builder (but has all the little machines Scoop, Muck etc as was given by friend)Any ideas would be appreciated Ta

I'm no expert - I've just got 19 month old DD a big box of the age 1-3 ones but you can get sets with trains etc.

Erm, just trying to think what else seems popular with the boys (and girls) at toddler groups...

Does he have any ride ons? Wheely bug or little tykes car? You can get some cheaper ride on cars from Argos or TK Maxx for around £20 I think.

Things my 20mth ds is getting:

a brio my first railway this one as it will fit with all of the other wooden railway stuff and is recommended from 18mths,
he's also getting a toy kitchen from relatives and some toy food(loves cooking/cupboards etc),
simple jigsaws are a current big favourite so he's having some of those,
books of course - esp ones with flaps, musical instruments - zylophone & drum,
also getting a child size table & chair

WOW toys are good, DS is getting this one, and DD who is almost 4 is now coveting it (having seen it in the shopping bag)!

Not too young for wooden trainset. We have quite a bit and DS (14 months) loves playing with it - doesn't really use the tracks as they were intended though.

Anything for building and knocking over - stacking cups, wooden blocks & Duplo all get used regularly

WOW toys! I was trying to remember the name, so thank you so much! Will get him the fire engine, he loved playing with it recently at Tebay service station!

I would definitely agree with a wooden train set. My DS (now 2.5) got one at 18 months and he loves it. In fact, he's getting a few more accessories this year.

He's also a big fan of the ELC happyland stuff - it gets played with all the time.

Ride-on's still very popular here too - there's a great Thomas one which my friend's DS has and still enjoys at age 3. Books, jigsaws/puzzles (orchard toys have good ones from 18 month plus) pop up tunnel/tent and duplo all good.

Oh, and on books it probably wasn't much past 19 months that my DS got more into stories - any Julia Donaldson or Oliver Jeffries books are directed winners here.

My 18 month plays with the wooden train set a lot.

We also have a pirate ship - Think it is a fisher price one or similar - he loves that.

Outside he loves a sit on to ride in/on.

Today he has been playing with a doll, a doll's cot and highchair. (all belong to his sister)

DS2 (19mo) loves his train set, plays with it more than 3yo DS1. He also has a thing about dolls and buggies, and adores drawing and has just discovered stickers (mainly putting them where they shouldn't go, like walls and windows ). Also very keen on toy kitchens.

For Christmas he is getting Lego Duplo and a Peppa Pig teaset (both shared with DS1) plus the Gruffalo book, a set of Peppa Pig puzzles, pencils/colouring book and we are also getting a climbing frame for the garden.
