i.e. simple cardboard with a christmas theme but definitely without manky chocolate/tv characters/pockets to put presents in (basically avoiding anything un-Christmassy or attempting to get you to spend even more money on tat to fill it)

I have seen several in W H Smiths. Also in our town we have a "Charity Christmas Card Stall" which opens up every year in the Tourist Info Centre, and they always sell lovely advent calendars as well as cards and wraping. And you can sometimes get them in Calendar Club shops. Or from a website called Orchard Cards.

Phoenix Cards have LOTS. If you haven't got a local sales lady (sold a bit like tupperware),

I got two lovely ones from the stall in the middle of the shopping mall which sells calendars. A Christmas Tree and a Nativity Scene. Goodbye Ben 10 / Barbie!

All over the place.

Newsagents, charities, temporary calendar stalls in shopping centres, garden centres etc.

I saw some lovely ones in the garden centre yesterday.

Thanks everybody - looks like Smiths then. We live in the sticks and I'm trying to get organised for a Christmas shopping mission and it was really difficult to find one last year.
