Clubs are no longer allowed to make a profit from the nudity of employees. The legislators acknowledge that stripping contributes to women's inequality.

Go Iceland!

Iceland putting everyone else to shame - pity its taken til 2010 for a country to make such a ruling

That's fab!

Gosh that's mind-boggling.

i simply cannot conceive of that happening here. Not at all.

Also how great the comment about their democracy working well with the bill being presented by the opposition and being passed. brilliant. So much better than what we have here, with two opposed sides of people throwing insults at each other. It's embarassing to witness.

It's great that they see this law in terms of women's rights too, not obscenity or whatever.

That's awesome!

I keep meaning to plan a trip to Iceland.

Fascinating. It's really, really exciting to see a country doing this for positive reasons instead of as part of a general anti-sex, anti-woman attitude. I am so looking forward to seeing how Iceland's initiative pans out. (I am inclined to think this is a Good Thing, but as a bit of a data junkie I will patiently wait for later statistics before I race around declaring absolute victory.)

I did laugh at the affronted strip club owner complaining that this puts Iceland on par with Saudi Arabia. Honey, there's no law against Icelandic women baring their bodies for free if they fancy it, you just can't run your business off it anymore.

I went to Iceland recently - it's an amazingly place. Not just the amazing landscape, the people themselves. Sexual equality & respect & honesty. A waitress refused our tip saying, "we are already well paid for our work thank you".

It's bloody cold & windy though!!! grin
