Just wanted to share about this fab documentary about 1960's/1970's feminism and the birth/development of the "women's liberation movement" in the USA.

It's about the USA feminist movement and it's a fantastic historical insight into what went on back then. I'd love to see a similar program about British feminism made.

It is amazing both to see how much has changed, and also very depressing to see how many of the issues they defined and named and raised awareness on all those years ago, are still massive issues for women today - abortion, contraception, childcare, rape, victim blaming pay gap etc.

I was also astonished to hear those 60/70's feminists talk about how cut off from knowledge about the suffragettes they were - they didn't know about them/learn about them because nothing was taught.

Me! I saw it and thought it was brilliant. I was going to post about it but sometimes I feel so beaten by all the backwards steps being made in 2016 and the push for reversals of these gains made for women, that I just can't think about it for one more second. And then I have a good night's sleep and come back to it again.

Indeed - you could feel the powerful fundamental awakenings they had and the changes that followed in the program. And it felt fantastic.

And then at the end you realise that all of these same battles are still being fought for today - and it is deflating. And maddening. But of course absolutely worth fighting for.

I don't know if it's been broadcast here other than on Netflix. I don't know why the BBC didn't snap a show like this up and broadcast it at 9pm on BBC2 or BBCFour.

I watched it and thought it was excellent. I did think the focus was very narrow and it could have been better with more. It's also showed how lucky they were because they had a platform to voice their views.

I agree that it should be shown on TV. If BBC 3 was still there it would be great. Channel four should air something like that because the age group needs more than ever now.
