There is a pretty vile group on FB. One of my friends has shared a photo of a status they have shared (keeping up lol?) where some goady troll has put that she think being catcalled is worse than going to war as afterall how hard is it to shoot someone?

The conversation moved to how bad feminists are and how all they want to do is 'oppress the evil man'

Now I haven't done 'women's studies'. but I would love to be able to comment back to friend and explain a bit more about what it is..

woman studies in laymen’s terms is, all woman are oppressed, looking at a woman is rape etc, all men are rapists, total fear mongering, and that being an obnoxious bratty child equals being a strong independent woman, my daughter has started being lectured about how men are privileged over woman, she is 11. it puts back any woman movements many years, and is being boycotted by first and second wave fems as ridiculous, it breeds shite like this tbh. oh and woman can join a infantry platoon as a front line troop and do a better job than men, it’s all about women being better than men, and patriarchy and the privilege pyramid, utter nonsense but then any criticism is misogyny and sexist crap.

or - because women will insist on fair treatment, and leave men who don't give it to them, and encourage society to support them in this, women are bad. Honestly though - you don't normally get anywhere with these people - last time I engaged with an MRA we had a bit of back and forth, where I maintained a reasonable tone, backed up with links to evidence, whilst he raved a bit, and he just stopped talking to me. If you engage and start getting angry and posting without careful thinking you play right into their hands because you will say something they can twist.

I mean a brief, cursory glance at the situation around the world shows that the situation is very far indeed from women being equal, let alone oppressing men.

What they are saying is they don't give a fuck about violence and sexual violence meted out against women and girls, they aren't interested. This makes them wankers not worth engaging with.

Oh actually I just looked at their page a bit and they don't believe in racism either - talking about racism perpetuates it apparently.
