I've just seen the most degrading image that I wish I could unsee....

Flitting through twitter and there was an image of a naked woman lying on her back on a giant serving dish, oiled up, with an apple in her mouth and knees pulled up with ankles crossed and tied.

Like a thanksgiving turkey.

What the fuck?

Degrading, disturbing and I can't get it out of my mind.

Sounds like some bondage pose.

I'm sure there's worse than that.

Oh well that's alright then Hmm.

Sounds quite brutal WineSpider. It's horrible when that happens and it is unsolicited.

It's meat is murder bollocks like the humans shrink wrapped photos that were doing the rounds a while back.

Think of those poor turkeys type of thing.

I'm sure there are worse things.

It's another example of the way that imagery of women as powerless objects for consumption is now so normal. It was heavily sexualised, and while it might be viewed as a sophisticated and deliberately provocative pose by some, I found it gruesome and depressing. Yuck.

Luckily I can't find it on twitter now to link but my eyes are still burning.

Is it a PETA thing by any chance? Seriously wouldn't put it past them!

Sorry, I didn't mean to belittle it or your reaction, I just meant that you could have seen something much worse than that. Blush

I have, during my dh's occasional foray into bondage and fetishism. I've seen pictures I can't unsee too. Hmm

I actually think thats worse than fetish imagery. If it was deliberately kinky then at least the womans subjegation would be the point and the viewer would have had to seek it out for that purpose.

Here, the subjegation is secondary to another message. Its sort of "in passing"
Much more insidious

I think its bad in the sense that they had to resort to such sexual imagery too try and get attention, surely animal cruelty is shocking enough without cracking out the baby oil next to some female model, is that kind of imagery necessary with the whole sea world backlash? no because it speaks for itself, are they commenting that turkey dinners are cruel or something? .Confused Confused

They use men as well, there's loads of pictures out there. I'm pretty sure they've done the child one to object about baby animals being used for meat.
