You need to give a clue as to what it is about before anyone will click on it.

Why restart a thread because you've disagreed with the responses?

Honestly?

I think the OP is almost unreadable. That the answers that you got were pretty much ok (at least the first 15 or so, because I gave up after that.

What does this have to do with feminism?

I am guessing you are asking if it's wrong to suggest that a woman should not be shouting and defending herself? You are pissed of that your husband thinks you being a woman makes you more vulnerable and that the idiot man felt he could intimidate you and use expressions like 'oh dear'?

I get what you are saying and why you are upset.

I get your point but saying things like "it's totally reactionary from me" implies you have little or no control over yourself in those situations which leads me to think you maybe aren't seeing it the same way your dh is. As for having to defend yourself because he was talking nonsense, fair enough but that doesn't mean shouting louder or longer. I think you need to sit down and actually listen whilst your dh tells you what it really was like.

Are you reactionary in other situations? What happens when a colleague talks nonsense?

Feminism does not = reactionary shouting in the street to "defend" yourself.

I agree with duelingfanjo op.

Tbh, I don't think see why we can't shout at people being arseholes to us in the street. Men always kick off at people they think they can shut up quickly maybe if more women shouted back they'd STFU

That's a bit of a generalisation weasel, I don't know any men who behave like that and can't remember when I've seen a man out and about behave like that either.

I don't really see it as a feminist issue (although there may be some detail missing that casts a different light on it).

The more socially/culturally "normal" situation would be for the men to shout at each other while the woman tries to defuse the argument and tells her husband that it's not worth it.

In this case you and the other man shouted at each other while your husband tried to defuse the argument and told you that it's not worth it.

So, um... yay for you and your DH turning stereotypes on their head, I suppose? But there might be more sensible places to start overthrowing the patriarchy than asserting your right to get into a shouting match in public.

I didn't post because I thought the OP sounded like an idiot.

Talking about "basic animal human instinct" doesn't make someone sound as if they think before they act, or as if they would think about the responses they got and reassess their behaviour based on those responses.
