..."Son Of Man" as part of their programme Hmm

It looks interesting enough, but is this the best they film they could come up with to further their stated aims of celebrating womens' achievements and raising important womens' issues? Really? A film about a man?

I am going to put it to the Bechdel Test when I get a free evening. I shall report back on whether it passes.

Do you know anything about the film?

Google came up with this.

Maybe there's a whole heap about the strength of Mary Magdalene and Mary his mother?

Its the story of Jesus's life transposed to contemporary Africa.

Am guessing it has a strong Mary thing going on but it is essentially about the life and works of a man Hmm

You shouldnt judge a film by its title.

I'm judging it by its reviews and subject matter mostly, acksherly Smile The title kinda makes clear that it isn't a film focussing on women and their achievements though, eh.

Apparently Mary's finest scenes are when she hears she is to be the mother of god. Cos of course, women can't be anything more than a vessel for great men, can they Hmm

I just think its a bit of an incongruous choice for a 'women's festival'.
