Corporate calendars - little rant!

I'm the manager of a large recycling company (a very male-dominated industry!) and yesterday in the post I received a 2012 calendar from a firm of engineers I've used once or twice in the past year. When I opened it, it was 12 pages of 'tasteful' nude ladies. OK, I'm no prude but I genuinely thought that the days of sending this type of stuff to customers was well and truly over! If not, it bloody should be! I emailed the company to suggest they might want to consider that many of their customers are (shock horror!) women and also perhaps this type of stuff has no place in a corporate environment. As yet I have no reply and probably won't get one. I'm saddened that this crap still exists in this day and age and the assumption that a woman wouldn't be in this type of job. Rant over!

I take it you informed them that they won't be getting any business from you in future, and that you will be doing the opposite of recommending them to any colleagues as well.

(Checks to see that it IS in fact the 21st Century. Yup, it is.)

They were on a bit of a sticky wicket with me anyway as the last time they came to my site, the 2 engineers looked me up and down then enquired as to who could show them what the problem was. At which point I put down my tea, put on a hard hat and told them I was the manager and would they like to follow me to the work area. They 'didn't realise, love' that as a woman I might know something about machinery (it's my sodding job to know!). KRITIQ they will not set foot on my site ever again and I have informed our engineering department of this. Tossers!

How could anyone possibly think this promotes the right image for their company (even if they assumed all their customers were men)?

My colleague received a similar calendar one year but even worse the nude women in it appeared to be employees of the company!

Well done for emailing.
