I'm pretty new to MN (mostly lurking thus far), and while I've always considered myself to have 'feminist leanings', I have consistently found myself drawn to this section, and I have to say it has opened my eyes...I seem to be spotting instances of sexism EVERYWHERE now, and actually getting pretty riled.

Latest one I've just happened upon whilst trawling t'internet for xmas gift ideas here (hope I did that link right) that maybe wouldn't have registered pre-looking on here, but has really pissed me off! 'Pink' issue aside, the wording of the advertising makes me want to bash the writer with my 13oz special edition pink hammer...I just can't believe that this sort of crap is being drip fed to us from all angles!! (so mad it warrants a double exclamation).

I do see a good use for it actually!

Dh would finally stay the hell away from my tools.

dont mind pink tools, though never looked at my tools and longed for them to be pretty.

Left home at 17 with the ability to do loads of DIY stuff and so empowered by the fact I could. Pity so many of the DDs friends call for help to change a lightbulb let alone manage a car service. Might be way off the mark here but pink tools may be a way to encourage girls to get into DIY (no it's not just for men they've made tools for you) ?
