nPower = sexist

my partner received a letter from nPower yesterday about them putting up their prices. Naturally this riled me but even worse was the fact that they had completely missed my name off the letter.

As the main account holder who pays the direct debit every month i would expect to see my name on the letter as well. My name has been on the account since day 1, my partners was added a few years back yet he is the one who recieves the correspondence, yet i pay the bloody bill.

I have submitted a complaint as i am sick to my back teeth of this type of institutional sexism.

Has any one else experienced this type of thing?

Oh yes.
Southern Electric.

DP moved in with me and called to shut his account and make arrangements to pay off a debt that he had with them.

He got a 15 minute rant of how they had to put a pre-payment meter in and despite him saying that the house, bills etc are all in my name, they said as he is the man of the house so it is down to him!Shock

I took the phone from him and said they had just lost 2 accounts as I had mine with them and switched online in 5 minutes.

Arseholes.

OMG "Man of the house", if they say that to me i will take them to court quoting the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and provision of goods and services.

I simply can't believe that these companies are still acting in this manner. It makes me sick!

I was a member of the AA for years before I added my DP onto the cover. Just a few weeks later they privatised or sold off something and gave every member a cash bonus. Guess who the cheque was made payable too? It must have been about 10 years ago, but it still annoys me.

To add insult to injury, they wouldn't let me cancel the policy, it had to be DP.

The AA did something similar with me. My home insurance is in joint names as the mortgage is joint- as the main earner I am first on the policy. When we had to make a claim, all letters were sent to DH and only he could speak to them on the phone. I went mental over it to be told it was a common mistake! I have since changed insurance companies.

Npower addresses everything to myself and DH jointly, so it sounds as though it's not a universal policy by the company.

Sky refuse to talk to me, only my husband, so I refuse to pass the phone over to him when they call.

I took out an insurance cover thingy on our new television as we had bought it on my debit card. With my personal barclays account.

We recieved the policy in DH@s name. He is not and never has been anything to do with the account but he does have a barclaycard at our address.

I rang them and complained and they were suitably embarrassed, but then told me that they couldn't change it without his permission as it was in his nameAngry

Southern Electric here too. I've always sorted out the bills and DD has always been in my name.

The bills have both names on them but all of the other letters (advertising and such) are all addressed to (now ex) DP.

I never could work out why this happened, didn't click that it was due to sexism Shock
